Michael Joseph Hixson
Michael J. Hixson passed away into the arms of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 20, 2023. He died doing what he enjoyed: being outside and working in his yard.
Michael was born on December 30, 1948, in St. Louis, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Delia Hixson.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Kathy, and his children: Tim Hixson, Matt (Debbie) Hixson, Dennis (Sarah) Hixson, and Katie (Tony) Roelke. Also his loving brothers Dick (Sue) Hixson, Dennis (Marie) Hixson, Pat Hixson; and his loving sisters Kathleen McElroy, Mary Ellen (John) Goodman, and Maggie (George) Fowler. Loving Pop to Michael Haas (Brittany), Kourtney (Damir) Dzafic, Conner, Laura, Makena, and Hana; and loving Grand Pop to Adjin, Addie, Kennedy, and Laeken.
Michael (Mike to all who knew him) was a loving person. He would do anything and everything for you. He had a wealth of knowledge and enjoyed sharing it when he could. He was proud of his kids and grandkids and all their accomplishments. Mike was a believer in Our Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ, and tried to live his life as God willed it. He will be greatly missed by all. Our hearts are broken. Oh Lord, heal our hearts! Amen!
Services will be held at St. Louis Cremation on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 10:30am- 12:45pm: 2135 Chouteau Ave, St. Louis, MO 63103. He will be interned at Jefferson Barracks Memorial at 1:30PM.
Mikes family invite service attendees to join them for food and drinks from 2:00pm-6:00pm at The Firehouse Bar and Grill: 3500 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125
Mike was a casual guy. We ask that you please, per his last requests, dress in nice casual wear. Your favorite flannel or plaid shirt would be most welcome. He was almost never without one!
I will miss our sit downs at Father’s Day gathering. I sat by Mike and talked about our passion for old cars for hours.Denny and Sarah always talked about the great dad he was and would do anything for them. He will be missed by many.
We will miss Mike very much. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. Always willing to help someone out in need and went over and above in what he did for anybody. So glad we were blessed to meet him and know him through our next door neighbor (Katie) and family.
Mike and Kathy were both close to my heart and all of the Joanie’s Pizzeria family.
He was the kindest, funniest man I am proud to say that I knew! We will miss you Mikey Maull❤️
Mike and I talked by phone once, teice, sometimes thrice in a week. We bonded on so many levels years ago and shared many personal interests. Mike and son Dennis migrated into my circle of friends across the country, connected by motorcycles. Although his physical limitations prevented him ftrom riding, his spirit and adventurous soul drove him to participate in many of our shinanigans. I will dearly miss Mike, but am at peace knowing that Mike has achieved his Number 1 Goal to reside with the Lord.

MHS Family
Mr Hixson was the kindest most thoughtful person that I’ve ever known. My father (Randy Knight), I suspect may not be around today without Mike’s companionship. When talking to my own son about Mr. Hixson and trying to help fill the void left upon Mike’s death), he said (despite meeting Mike only once) “you need to pick up your game because that guy isn’t replaceable “ . Mr Hixon you certainly aren’t replaceable but I promise to do my best! To the Hixon family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless you.
Peace to you Mr. Hixson
