That SMILE!

Michael Kenyon

Michael David Kenyon passed to the next dimension at the age of 74 on November 25, 2025 after bravely battling Parkinson’s Disease for many years. His legacy of kindness and caring will be remembered by all whose lives were touched by him.

Michael was born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 7, 1951 and also lived in Oklahoma and New Hampshire. He moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1990 and met his beloved wife, Margaret (Carter) shortly thereafter. They were married in 1996 and shared many wonderful memories together. They loved to travel. One of their favorite adventures was to Woodstock’s 50th anniversary. Michael was a self-proclaimed “hippie” and wished the world “peace, love, and rock & roll!” He loved music and had an uncanny ability to quote song lyrics for every occasion.

Michael had a zest for life. His beautiful smile was contagious, and he had a great laugh. He devoted much of his career working to make the lives of kids better in special education at the Ritenour School District and as a PTA (Physical Therapy Assistant) at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, from where he retired after 16 years. Michael treated the kids like his own. He loved them, and they loved him.

Originally from Kansas City, he was an avid KC Chiefs football fan and adopted his new hometown’s St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. He watched every game he could. He had so much fun dressing up for Halloween and had some epic costumes. He was also known for his eclectic T-shirt collection. Michael was a great dancer, and he even won dance contests! He had a talent for gardening and grew beautiful roses. Michael was a very good bowler, too.

Michael loved his family. He was a wonderful husband, and his brother, sister, daughter, and grandchild were very dear to him. He was an animal lover, and his dogs were part of the family. His friends meant so much to him. Along with his wife Margaret, he is survived by his daughter, Aurora Kenyon, his grandchild, Fi Kenyon, his brother Randall Kenyon (Barbara), and his sister, Christine Kenyon-Frey, along with his niece Marcie Kenyon and nephews, Matthew Kenyon and Caleb Frey. He is predeceased by his parents Earl and Willa Kenyon of Kansas City, Missouri.

If you would like to make a memorial donation you may do so to the American Parkinson Disease Association or to Rock Steady Boxing – Fenton, Missouri.

He was one of a kind! Our 50th reunion Woodstock trip was an experience of a lifetime and I was so fortunate he and Margaret insisted I go with them. Miss him more than anyone will ever know. Fly high brother, fly high.
