Michael Lanfer

April 1, 1957 – November 26, 2022

Michael Anthony Lanfer

Mike Lanfer passed away suddenly, November 26, 2022, at home after a short battle with cancer.

The Lord said “I need you now…”

Survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Belinda Lanfer (nee Dohrman), loving children, Elizabeth Knipping and Matthew (Heather) Lanfer, and his grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Cooper, and Jake. Loved by many long-time friends and a large extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Delores Lanfer (nee Wheeler), and his sister, Beverly Luko-Lanfer.

Mike was born April 1, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up in Ferguson where he enjoyed many close friends. He graduated from McCluer High School in 1976. On October 21, 1978, he married the love of his life, Belinda, and together they welcomed Ellie in 1981, and Matt in 1983. Mike was an all-around machinist, a tool and die maker at Boeing for 15 years and continued to work with his hands and machines creating anything with metal and wood until recently.

Mike spent many summers and weekends at Lake of the Ozarks and was a great fan of all things water. He loved to boat, fish, and water ski. He enjoyed his radio-controlled boats and cars with friends. Many long weekends were spent celebrating on the water with family, and fishing with his buddies. Mike loved to listen to talk radio and sports of any kind as he sat outdoors and watched the world go by. He enjoyed NHRA drag racing, WWE Wrestling, old movies, and Three Stooges reruns. He loved animals, and rarely did he not have a loyal dog by his side.

Mike’s grandchildren were another joy in his life. He was always known to offer a “Buddy Cookie” or a mint from his pocket whenever the grandkids visited. Sleepovers with the grandkids happened often, and Mike made the best pancakes and omelets for breakfast.

Mike will be well remembered by the Dohrman “Outlaws,” his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren for his eagerness to have a good time, and for being a primary instigator of shenanigans.

A memorial will be held after the holidays; information to follow.
