Michael Roy Booker

Michael “Mike” Booker earned his wings at the age of 69 on 08/22/2021 shortly after 10pm at home peacefully surrounded by family. He was born in St. Louis, MO on 10/3/1951 to parents Rev David Booker and Ernestine Booker.

He graduated from Northwest High School with honors in 1969. Michael played sports in high school (football & wrestling). As a lineman and a grappler, He attended Washington University on an academic scholarship majoring in political science, musical production & artistic development.

Mike worked as a Lab Technician for over 20 years at The Ethyl Corporation and later worked as a carpenter & with several cleaning companies for many years before his retirement.

Mike accepted Christ at a very young age and was a member of Burning Bush Missionary Baptist Church, where his father developed and served as Rev David Booker. Young Michael started out as an altar boy then moving to the choir, which is where he gained his interest in musical arrangement. He later moved to serve as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and musician.

This amazing revolutionary man was affectionately known as Pops, Grandpa, Uncle Mike, Bookie and Bookby. This God fearing man loved The Lord. He also adored music, loved to play the guitar (acoustic/bass/electric) along with the

piano, loved to read The Holy Bible and everything else (including sheet music). He was definitely a comic book fanatic, a heavy science fiction geek and loved to dominate a chess match. Drawings, sketches, paintings, along with writing were blessings he was also graced with. But most of all debating was his true passion.

Mike’s physical appearance may no longer be with us but his soul shines through as the sun rises and sets. This Holy man will truly be missed by all whom he has known.

Michael Roy Booker is survived by his son Patrick Michael Booker I (Timika) and step-daughter Lohgan Nesbitt Booker, grandchildren Telisa Booker & Patrick Booker II, many nieces and nephews. Along with best friend Robert Campbell and

a host of family & friends who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents Rev David and Ernestine Booker and his brother Cedric Booker.

Memorial Service will be held September 3, 2021 3pm Burning Bush MBC, 1925 Sarah St. Louis MO 63113. FACE MASKS REQUIRED
