Michael Stewart
Michael G. Stewart passed peacefully on October 27, 2024. “Dad” to Steven, Jeremiah, Travis and Patrick, and “Papa” to Preston, Tyler, Hunter, Romero, Marcus and James. His “boys” were the love of his life.
Son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to so many. Mike lived life his way. He worked hard, played harder and was always a champion to those in need, most especially the brave men and women who served our country. Mike was a man who loved deeply and was loved deeply in return.
Per his wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, he asks that you give a listen to “When I Get to Heaven” by John Prine. If you know Mike well, you will smile fondly as you raise your glass in his honor.
Disabled American Veterans is Mike’s charity of choice. Rest peacefully, Mike.

Mike and I have been together a couple of short years and in that time I grew to love him more than words can say. We will be together again ❤️❤️
To the family and friends of Mike, my very deepest condolences. He was my
confidant, my personal singer, my partner in crime, my lifeline, my minister and one of my truly great friends. He will live within me for the rest of my life. Mike’s love, pride and concern for his sons, as they served our country, is unforgettable. The love for his grandchildren was always foremost in his mind. Rest well, Mikey.
I look forward to seeing you again. xxoo
Mike had the rare ability to connect with almost everyone he met. If someone was in need, he’d literally give the shirt off his back, which he did quite often. His gift of song, both written and sung; his infectous laugh; his musical whistle; his soft heart; his cooking!! and oh, not to forget, his gift of gab will always bring a smile to my face. There are so many wonderful and fun times to remember, long conversations I will miss. There are not enough words to express my love and sympathy. He will always be in my heart.
Mike was one of my all-time favorite people and dearest friends. A pal, a mentor, a generous and caring soul with laughter in his eyes and music in his heart. I was no more than 22 when we met but he treated me like an equal, and in time he took me in like an adopted son. When I was so far from my hometown as a young man he always included me in his holiday celebrations in Petaluma with the family. I will forever be grateful for his kindness and companionship, for teaching me so many of my favorite songs, for encouraging me to pick up the guitar and play my heart out, and for letting me know that I was loved and appreciated. Many of my life’s greatest memories were made just sitting with Mike at the Tin Bar, sipping cold beer, telling jokes, playing our six-strings just a’ pickin’ and grinnin’ on sunny afternoons. I can still hear him laugh and holler “Pick me one, son!” He will be missed.
RIP Mike
I only knew mike a short time but we connected right off and talked about everything under the sun. We laughed the time away. It deeply sorrows me to hear of his passing! My condolences to his family just remember he live through our memory’s so he will live forever in our hearts!
Mike was such a great guy and friend. We rented a place together in Belmont, California in the late 80’s while he was driving big rigs, he ever took me out and taught me how to drive. He was always fun to be around and he was so loving to my Mom when she would come over, my Mommy just loved Mikey! He was great at cooking up some delicious meals and always was big on the produce he would bring home from his trucking runs. Hey Mike when I see you in heaven we are gonna get a cocktail…..
I was blessed to meet Michael over 25 years ago working with him in the flooring industry. He was an incredible salesman, musician & chef! We became close friends and traveled on many wonderful trips together throughout those years to Tennessee, Quebec & New Orleans to name a few. We played music together and talked almost weekly on the phone. Mike had a great sense of humor and always made me laugh! He was a giver and not a complainer. He would tell you like it is and always be the first to smile and give you a big hug! He was one of the most positive and caring individuals I’ve ever known and I’m going to miss him dearly. I love you brother. Rest in peace Michael in the palm of God’s hand.
