Background information: Work, hobbies, etc.:

Millie was born in North St. Louis and baptized at St. Casimir Church. Growing up, she attended St. Stanislaus Kotska Church and Holy Ghost School. In the 1940s, her family moved to the Shaw neighborhood, in the St. Margaret of Scotland Parish. After graduating from Rosati-Kain High School, she worked for Easter Seals, and as a switchboard operator for Benjamin Moore Paint Company, where she met her first husband, Bud Wamser. They moved to Florissant and raised their seven children.

Millie was a hard worker but also had a good sense of humor, with many long-running jokes with family members. She loved her children and grandchildren, was always supportive and encouraged them to do their best. She was talented – sewing clothes and Halloween costumes, decorating birthday cakes, and making sugar eggs for Easter. She was sure to mark every holiday and event with decorations and a celebration. She had a box with folders, by month, filled with birthday and anniversary cards. A list of intended recipients and dates ensured she would not forget anyone’s special day.

Millie was proud of her Polish heritage and could dance a mean Polka. She enjoyed the annual Polish Falcon’s Festival in Florissant, treated her family to golumpki, pierogi, and sausage from Piekutowski’s. Although she never made it to Poland, Millie loved to travel. When her children were grown, she traveled with them or other relatives visiting US National Parks, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, and even Egypt.

In 2023, Millie joined her sister, Pat, at Brookdale Senior Living, Creve Coeur. She quickly made friends and participated in various activities and clubs, including looming, jewelry and wine making. Her children and grandchildren are proud owners of her handiwork. Never one to sit idle, in her spare time Millie loved putting together puzzles, whether on her own or with family. She always said, “Puzzles keep your mind sharp.”  And they did! She will be deeply missed.

Wow, what can I say? Such a beautiful tribute. Memories, oh so many memories. Looking at these pictures take me back to my childhood when we would all get together at your and Uncle Buds house. Just a small gathering of us 13 kids lol. Then the huge Christmases with Santa and the aluminum tree and the train. All the matching girls outfits. I could go on and on. They are all good times . Then the family reunions.
Aunt Mil you will surely be missed. Do me a favor, say hi to my Mommy. Looks like you are going to have a humdinger of a reunion. God bless you Aunt Mil.
