Monica Larrisa Carter
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE FOR
MONICA LARRISA CARTER
Sunrise: January 24, 1968 to Sunset: September 4, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we celebrate the life of our beloved sister, mother, wife, daughter, aunt, cousin, grandmother, and friend.
Monica joins in eternal rest many cherished family members who passed before her and now they can all rejoice together.
Monica is survived by her husband of 27 years, Robert Joe Carter; her daughter, Kiki (Ke’Aign’ee Larrisa Carter); her grandson, Zayden A. Harwell (ZayZay); her mother, Amanda Ramsey; her sister, Malynda Ramsey; her brothers, Jerrimaine Calvin Ramsey, & Donald James Buckner III; and her niece, “sweet baby” Zuri J. Buckner. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and many dear friends.
Monica was born on January 24, 1968, in St. Louis, Missouri, where she was also raised. She attended the St. Louis Public School System and graduated before beginning her studies at SIUE. Monica later discovered her passion and creativity for hairstyling, leading her to attend cosmetology school and become a licensed Cosmetologist. In 2006, she proudly graduated from St. Louis Community College with an Associate of Arts degree, and in 2009 she earned her Bachelor of Science in Digital Entertainment and Game Design from ITT Technical Institute.
Monica’s creativity was endless. She loved journaling, braiding hair, knitting, crocheting, and sewing — skills she learned and perfected on her own. She was also known as the family cook, having learned her culinary gifts from her mother. Monica’s curious and artistic spirit gleamed through everything she touched. Monica’s love, laughter, and creativity will live forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
Above all, Monica cherished her relationship with God. She devoted time to studying the Bible, building a relationship with GOD, and learning how to pray; finding peace and strength in her profound love for both God and her family.
Monica’s greatest joy came from being a grandmother. She adored her grandson, ZayZay, and treasured every moment they shared — laughing, playing, and watching him grow over the past four years.
