Myra Lou Overfelt

Myra Lou Overfelt of Chesterfield, Mo. passed away September 3, 2019.
Survivors include her husband Richard of 70 years.
They have three children; Ricki Schwartz and her husband Rick Schwartz, Kevin and his wife, Julie Overfelt, Scott and his wife, Jane Overfelt; eight grandchildren, Katie and her husband Chris Growe, Jerry and his wife Jennifer Schwartz, Travis and his wife Karelynn Overfelt, Shannon and her husband Jared Hickman, Hannah and her husband Bradley Mitchell, Andrew and his wife Megan Overfelt, Daniel Overfelt, and Megan Overfelt. Myra and Richard also have six great-grandchildren Harper Growe, Bennett Schwartz, Hudson Growe, Julianne Hickman, Charlie Overfelt, and Jason Hickman. Special friends include Jonet Franklin, Linda Hollensbe, and Linda Hart.
Myra was born on a farm, south of Clarence, Missouri, and graduated from Clarence High School in 1947. She became a rural school teacher in Shelby and Monroe Counties, and later taught in the Alexandria, Missouri School District. Myra liked being a school teacher, and helped many kids become successful learners. Her greatest love was being a stay at home mom, and teaching her children and others to work hard, develop common sense, and learn the importance of doing for others. After her children finished school, Myra worked more than 30 years creating and making Christmas tree ornaments. Myra and her husband farmed in the Clarence, Missouri area raising and marketing Christmas trees, pumpkins, and gourds for 26 years.
In lieu of services the family asks for contributions to Union Church and Union Grove Cemetery, Clarence, Mo. 63437, attention Kathy Rufner.
