Nancy Ahmann

Memory Eternal Nancy Anne Ahmann

It is with deep sadness, but hope in the Resurrection, that we inform you of the passing of Nancy Anne Ahmann (Bohannon), 85, on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

Beloved wife of Robert “Bob” Ahmann for 63 years; loving mother of Robin Ahmann (Dale Ireland) of Wildwood, MO and Randall Ahmann (Constance Kim) of Los Angeles, CA; dear daughter of the late Hattie Lou (Storey) and Barney Collins Bohannon; dear sister of Barbara (Richard Mote) and Mary Jane (Paul Kissinger), and the late sister Judith “Judy” (William Phillips) and late brother Jimmy Bohannon; dear sister-in-law of the late Pat Jamilkowski, the late Lois Bruget, the late Vern Ahmann (Catherine), and the late Roger Ahmann (Carol).

Nancy was born in Senath, MO located in Dunklin County on January 19, 1938.

Nancy was active in all things music. She was a formally trained vocalist in classical, jazz, and pop as well as an accomplished piano player. Nancy excelled as a much sought after soloist, performing within a choir, and many other musical roles within community and church productions over the decades. Her son Randall followed in her footsteps as a professional musician. They sometimes performed and recorded together in various settings. Additionally, Nancy taught about 150 piano students across 30+ years and enjoyed painting in oil and water-colors.

Bob and Nancy were clearly each other’s best friends. They were inseparable since their first date on New Year’s Eve in 1958 in Ft Wayne, Indiana following their meeting at a United Methodist Church college-aged young people’s Sunday School party. There was a whirlwind romance with Bob proposing to Nancy on their very first Valentine’s Day in 1959. Following marriage on September 2, 1959, they were overjoyed to welcome their first child, Robin, into their family in 1961 and their second child, Randall, in 1963.

Nancy loved her family.  Nancy and Bob shepherded their young family throughout a good part of the US during the 1960s through early 1980s following Bob’s construction projects that he managed in IN, MI, IL, OH, TN, MD, and PA. This eventually led them to Houston, TX where they thrived the last 40 years.

Nancy and Bob were both active in the local churches and civic clubs in cities and towns in which they resided. Nancy was the glue at home that allowed Bob to lead construction projects that were often initiated every 2-3 years. She was the one that stayed behind to be sure the children finished school studies before packing up the house and moving on to the next city and state where Bob’s business led them. She never complained about all this movement but saw it as an opportunity to provide the continuity and “house and hearth” her young family needed.

We were blessed to have Nancy as our mother, mother-in-law and wife and will miss her immensely, but knowing that she awaits her Robert’s return to her in their eternal home together with their Savior.

Nancy and her family would like to extend special recognition and immense thanks to the wonderful, compassionate caregivers at Brookdale Senior Living – Cypress Station, Texas; Brookdale Senior Living – West County, St Louis, Missouri and Crossroads Hospice of St Louis, Missouri. May God bless each of them for their love and assistance.
