Nancy Berndt
Berndt, Nancy Ann (nee Pfeil), passed away peacefully December 6 , 2023. She was the beloved wife of late husband Harry Berndt. She was predeceased in 1987 by daughter Leslie Berndt, and by brother Walter Pfeil in 2015.
Nancy studied art at Kent State University and was a fine artist in oil pastel, watercolor and acrylics. She worked as an Illustrator and Commercial Artist for a time while raising four children, and also worked in real estate for many years. Later in life she resumed her passion for fine art and was quite prolific. She painted beautiful landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. Her works are featured and sold at Grafica Fine Art Gallery in Webster Groves. Nancy’s watercolor works were twice awarded First Place at the prestigious Cleveland May Show held at the Cleveland
Museum of Art.
Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She lived in Webster Groves and loved to garden and cook. Her bread making was legendary with everyone in the family as well as her neighborhood hoping for a loaf. Nancy’s hot mustard sauce was also loved and given each year at Christmas to eagerly awaiting fans. Her husband often remarked that Nancy’s cooking was better than any restaurant in town.
Nancy is survived by daughter Robin Franklin and sons Eric and Colin Berndt; grandchildren Jason Nichols, David Berndt, Morgan Bosanco, Allyson Berndt, Corey Franklin, Adam Franklin, and Brittany Sanderbeck; and great grand children Annabell and Julia Berndt, Logan and Wesley Nichols, John, Margaret, Henry, Elizabeth, Parker, Quinn, Stephen Franklin, Kyndell, and Raelynn Sanderbeck.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Redeemer Church on December 28, 2023 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to Doctors Without Borders, or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
