Nancy Elizabeth Bina

Nancy Elizabeth Bina, 83, born March 30, 1942, passed away peacefully on August 22nd, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved wife of the late William Bina for 58 wonderful years.

Nancy was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN to the late Kenneth and Norma Kennedy. She was the oldest of three children and is survived by her dear siblings, brother Michael (Linda) Kennedy and sister Vicki (Jim) Tiburzi.

Nancy then came to St. Louis to attend Webster University, where she met Bill. They fell in love and were married soon after.  Nancy and Bill were devoted members of St. Peter Catholic Church for over fifty years. They raised their five daughters in Kirkwood on Way Avenue where she organized countless neighborhood parties over the years, bringing people together and creating cherished memories.

She was a proud mother to Maribeth (David) Amos, Kathleen (Michael) Dehner, Vicki (Robert) Yokley, Megan (David) Kramer, and Ellen (David) Kendall. She was a proud Nana to Molly, Maggie, Bridget, Jack, William, Alice, Madison, Sarah, Charlie, Ryan, Nicholas, Patrick, Colin, and Maria, and a proud Great-Nana to Nile, Ella, Palmer, and Kellum.

Nancy devoted her life to her family and friends. Her thoughtfulness and generosity brought joy to all who knew her, and she had a gift for making everyday life feel special. After raising her children, Nancy worked at Meramec Community College, where she made life-long friends, and she also enjoyed volunteering at the Peace Pantry with her best friend, Carol, and being a part of her longtime rosary group.

She had a great love for flowers, reading, needlepointing, sun tea, the beach, and attending all her grandchildren’s many events—never missing a single one. Her family was her true pride and joy and loved nothing more than being surrounded by them. Her presence will be deeply missed.

A Mass celebrating Nancy’s life will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church in Kirkwood on Friday, August 29th. A visitation will be held in the back of church at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Nancy’s life and memory.

At Nancy’s request, her body was donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine — a final, selfless gift reflecting her lifelong generosity and desire to help others.

To the Bina Girls – know how very sorry I was to hear of your mom’s passing. For so many of us growing up at St Peter’s, she was one of the moms who took care of us whether it was at school, in Scouts or one of the countless sleepovers or slumber parties at your house. She even took my sister and I home from the pool one day when my grandfather had a heart attack and graciously kept us for 3 full days while my mom spent his final days by his bedside. Sending you all my love

Nancy was a deer friend all through high School and college. I had the privilege of being in Nancy and Bill’s wedding. I still remember a beautiful gold bridesmaid. dresses. I remember visiting her house so many times. I can still see her grandmother sitting on a chair in the living room and Norma and Ken are wonderful parents. Her Dad dad made the best barbecued chicken ever. Our class has lost a lot of wonderful people. This one dear Nancy was an especially hard one. Much love to Vicky and Mike and all Nancy’s wonderful family. With love and prayers, Gretchen Stipher Cain

Nancy and Bill, two of the nicest and friendliest people I have ever known….Bill was my cousin as his mother and my mother were sisters.
I remember swimming at Crystal Lake pool when I was extremely young, as I recall Bill and Cris were lifeguards. I always loved seeing Bill and Nancy! Nancy was the best…RIP

Nancy was one of my favorite cooking class students. She, along with her friend Alice, attended countless classes where she helped make each class fun. I was blessed to have been able to call her a culinary/Meramec friend. I’ll always remember her smile, sense of humor and all those wonderful conversations. A standout – the last time we had lunch a few years back when the entree enjoyed was laugher. Thank you Nancy for the memories. May you and Alice keep the conversations and laughter going on the other side. With love and prayers to the entire Bina family. With my sincere sympathies, Suzanne Corbett

Oh, what wonderful memories of life on Way Avenue! So many great families having such fun together – in the yards, on the street, in the swimming pool – all the adults and kids having fun, sometimes getting in a bit of trouble and laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world! And, how do you suppose our street got painted?!?!? We never could really explain it!!

Such wonderful camaraderie! And, Nancy and Bill were right in there with all the rest of us! Happy, happy memories!! Love to you all, Betty and Dave
