Nelda Obermeier
April 23rd, 1925 – May 26th, 2026
Obermeier, Nell (née Tucker), passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at the age of 101. Born on April 23, 1925, Nell was many things throughout her remarkable life: a trusted friend, a dedicated worker, an avid golfer and a world traveler.
She spent many years working at Washington University, where she formed lasting friendships and touched the lives of countless people. She had a unique gift for making everyone feel like family, earning her the cherished reputation of being “Grandma to All.” Her home, her heart, and her arms were always open, offering comfort, encouragement, and unconditional love to anyone who needed it. Her greatest joy, however, was her family.
She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her sister, Joyce Schueler; her children, Bob (Lee) Obermeier, Dennis (Kathy) Doyle, Pat (Jim) Brennan, Kate Vitale, Richard (Fran Thomas) Obermeier and Linda Rollings; as well as her 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Tucker and Louise (George) Schellenberg; her brother, Tommy Tucker; her son-in-law, Dale Rollings; and her husbands, Vincent Doyle and Robert Obermeier.
Though she will be deeply missed, her love and spirit will continue to guide her family and all those fortunate enough to have called her their grandma.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation, a cause that reflects Nell’s caring and generous spirit.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church
