Noreen Petersen Dempsey
Noreen Petersen Dempsey (nee Lynch) After a full life, Noreen passed away at the age of 84 on October 15, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Timothy P. Dempsey Sr., she was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Nora Lynch (nee McNamara), brother Harry, and former husband Fenton J. Petersen Jr. Noreen was the loving mother of Vincent Petersen (deceased), Charles (Sharon) Petersen, Matthew (Desiree)Petersen, Philipp (Silvia, deceased) Petersen, and Margaret (Mathew) Puhse; stepmother of Timothy (Debbie) Dempsey Jr., Colleen (Den) Dotson, and Kathleen (Todd) Sublette. Noreen enjoyed her time with her 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mary Noreen Angela Lynch was born in Kansas City, MO, on August 17, 1937, as the Angelus Bells rang. She graduated with honors from St. Teresa’s Academy in Kansas City (1954) and Fontbonne College in St. Louis, MO (1958) with a BA in Elementary Education. Noreen was a long-time choir director and organist at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Florissant, MO, and later on as a choir member at Sacred Heart Church in Valley Park, MO. Noreen was honored to sing the Star-Spangled Banner at a St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball game at the old Busch Stadium on June 16, 1994.
Noreen married Timothy P. Dempsey Sr. on May 31, 1995. Nana and Papa Tim truly enjoyed celebrating birthdays, graduations, and the holidays with the extended family. They enjoyed retirement traveling the world and spending their winters in Englewood, FL. After Tim’s death on September 15, 2009, Noreen moved to Meramec Bluffs retirement community, Ballwin, MO. Noreen enjoyed playing the piano at Meramec Bluffs, even playing church service the morning before she passed. Noreen donated her body to SLU Medical School. God rest her soul.
Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 11:45 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 17 Ann Avenue, Valley Park, MO, 63088, followed by a Celebration of Life Mass at 1 PM.
