Norine Griffin Rozell

August 27th, 1927 – April 26th, 2024

Norine Marie Rozell (née Griffin) age 96, of Chesterfield, MO, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2024 at home with her family.

Beloved wife and best friend of the late Howard; loving mother of Sheila (devoted son-in-law Thomas) Siegmund; adored grandmother of Kathleen and Patrick (Hannah), cherished sister of the late Mary (late Robert) Houlihan, the late Eugene (late Elena), the late Gerald (late Rosemary) and sister-in-law of Madeline (late Michael) Murray, and dear aunt to many nieces and nephews, including her devoted niece and regular telephone companion down memory lane, Sr Nancy Houlihan, RSM.

Norine gifted her body to science. A Memorial Mass and celebration of her life will be held on the South Side (of course!) on June 8, 2024 in Mercy Chapel at Mercy Hall,  10044 S Central Park Ave, Chicago 60655, at 11:00 am,  with luncheon to follow. And then a stop at the Original Rainbow Cone for an ice cream toast to Norine. She was a proud ‘Mercy Girl’, graduating Mercy High School in 1945. Norine was a great lover of stories – family lore, movies and books.  She had a wonderful career as a librarian for the Chicago Public Library and the Richton Park Public Library.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (stjude.org) or Catholic Charities Chicago (catholiccharities.net) .
