Odile Lampe
Odile LaBelle Lampe (nee Poliquin), age 88, passed away on September 28, 2023 at Delmar Gardens of Chesterfield. Odile was born March 12, 1935, in Mattoon, Illinois to Eugene Michael and Anna Laura Poliquin (nee Smith). She graduated in 1953 from Mercy High School, St. Louis, Missouri. She was known for her love of family and God, saying the rosary daily, sharing her talents, and being the owner of O & K Bakery.
Odile married Richard E. Lampe and four children were born to this union: Richard Lee Lampe (spouse JoAnn), Michael Eugene Lampe (spouse Kristen), Michelle Odile Lampe-Jacquin, and David Charles Lampe. Seven Grandchildren: Jennifer Kissinger (spouse Don), Robert Jacquin (spouse Nikki), Steven Jacquin (Spouse Christina), Benjamin Lampe (Spouse Brie), Thomas Lampe (spouse Deb), Nicholas Lampe (fiance Kortni), and Jessica Walker (spouse Brian). Ten great-grandchildren: Liesel, Noah, Gretchen, Mic, Coby, Landon, John, Emily, Matthew, and Zeiler. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Odile was a stay-at-home mom until her children were raised. She then opened O & K Bakery on Telegraph Road. Some of her big accounts were The Old Spaghetti Factory and ELCO. There, she was known for baking a variety of stollens and cakes. Prior to her business, Odile was an active member at Holy Infant Parish where she was involved in many organizations. She was also a baker and checker at Shop-N-Save in Ellisville. In addition, Odile volunteered at Chaminade College Prep-High School and Mercy High School. She was also a member of a weavers guild, typed braille children’s books, decorated scenic sugar eggs, and made homemade chocolates. Odile cherished special moments with her neighbors and Cardinal Tim Dolan. Family time was essential to her as they sailed at Alton and Carlye Lake. Odile was her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan, as she would cheer them on at sporting events, dance recitals, and band festivals. She loved being in the audience when Chef Rick was being televised. Odile encouraged children to follow their dreams and passions.
Odile was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas Poliquin and spouse Helen Wigeman, her sister Laura Rose Poliquin (Sister Mary Odile Poliquin, SSND), her brother-in-laws Deacon Norman Werner and Bernie Riley. Those who survive to mourn her loss include her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her siblings Mary Werner, Rita Riley, and Michael Poliquin (spouse MaryAnn). In addition, many other relatives and friends will miss her.
