Patricia Singer

St. Louis Cremation SingerPatricia Ann Singer (nee Frankovic) departed this earth for her heavenly home on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the age of 81. She passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her children.

Pat entered this world on December 29th, 1934, in Chicago, IL, the 3rd of 4 children of Joseph and Catherine Frankovic (nee Oberman). She attended St. Frances of Rome Grade School in Cicero, IL and graduated from Trinity High School in River Forest, IL in 1952. Pat attended Mundelein College where she met her husband, James (Bud) Singer who was attending Loyola University/Chicago. They were married on October 1st, 1955 at her parish of St. Frances of Rome.

Pat believed her finest accomplishment was raising her six children. She and Bud welcomed their eldest son, Jim, while Bud was in the army, stationed in South Carolina. Her next four children, Mary, Nancy, TJ and Pat, were born after she and Bud returned to the Chicago area. Her youngest child, Chris, was born in Mattoon, IL. Although she lived in the Chicago area, Kirkwood, MO, Mattoon, IL, Oak Brook, IL and Denver, CO during various periods of her life, her favorite place to live was Naples, FL where she spent most of her last 30 years.

While living in Naples, Pat continued her passion of playing bridge, both socially and competitively. She was known to be an excellent competitive player and participated in ACBL tournaments throughout the country. She was very proud of having obtained the rank of a Bridge Life Master. Pat was an avid traveler and enjoyed her trips to Ireland, Rome, Alaska and particularly her trip to Yugoslavia with her sister, June, to discover their ‘roots’. She was a passionate reader of books, loved ‘old movies’ and was known to complete crossword puzzles in pen. Pat was a fan of Notre Dame football and followed professional golf. She also enjoyed watching and following her many grandchildren’s extracurricular activities.

Pat is survived by her six children, Jim (Claire) Singer, Hamburg, NY, Mary Singer Huffer (Gary), Monument, CO; Nancy Singer Gies (Michael), Oak Park, IL; TJ Singer, St. Louis, MO, Pat Singer Hartsfield, Wildwood, MO and Christine Singer Kasman (John), Kirkwood, MO. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, her sister, June Frankovic Vargo Gross, her sister-in-law, Carol Frankovic, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, James (Bud) Singer, her parents Joseph and Catherine Frankovic, and her brothers, Joseph Frankovic and Richard Frankovic.

A memorial service will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 243 W. Argonne, Kirkwood, MO on Saturday, April 30th. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by mass at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
