Paul A. Preuss
Paul. A. Preuss died April 21, 2015 with the Holy Sacraments, after his second courageous fight with cancer, surrounded by his devoted family. He was a loving husband to Rosemary (Pusczek) Preuss, a loving father to his children Deborah Barylski, Michael Barylski and Pam (Mark) Lutzenberger, a loving grandpa to Daniel (Angela) and Mark Barylski (Tisha Walters), and a great-grandpa to Mason, Marshall, Marissa and Grace Barylski, all from the St. Louis area. He was a devoted son to his late parents Alfred and Helen (Aubuchon) Preuss and a dear brother to his 9 siblings, Donald (Betty), R. Eugene, Sylvia (Martin)Lyles, Norman (Kathy),
Allen (Linda), Sharon (Bob) Munro, Roger (Jane), Thomas (Barb) and Gary Preuss. He was also a loving uncle, great-uncle, cousin and a loyal friend. Paul served in the Coast Guard from January 1952 to July 1954 when he received an honorable discharge. He was a mail carrier for 19 years who was particularly proud of the part he played in the American Postal Workers Strike in 1970 and for the subsequent formation of the American Postal Workers Union. Paul was an avid golfer and bowler and had received many trophies on several teams for those endeavors. He also loved to fish and spent many an hour with Rose and his loyal beagle Mutley searching for the best places to fish on the river. Almost every weekend was spent out at his and Rose’s place on the Mississippi River where family and friends were always welcome to come out and relax. Many family reunions and great times were had by all who were lucky enough to spend time with them on the river or at their home. He was a one of a kind man who lived life his way and will be sorely missed by all those who loved him. There will be no funeral service as Paul has chosen to donate his body to the SLU medical center. However, the family will announce a memorial service at a later date. Anyone interested in attending the memorial is asked to email the family at paulpreussmemorial@gmail.com. Paul has asked that donations be made in his name to: The American Cancer Society, The VFW or Disabled American Veterans.
My condolences to the family. I always knew him as Uncle Bud or Uncle Bubbles, I’m not really sure where those names came from but that’s what I always called him. I remember going out on the river with him on his boat and he would let me steer. We used to have such a good time and I have such great memories from back then. Uncle Bud and Aunt Rose are my godparents and although it’s been awhile since I’ve seen them I think about them often. Love you Uncle Bud, you will truly be missed!

It warms the cockles of my heart that you are in peace and are now with all of our family who have gone before you. I wish I could hear you call me “Sizzle” one more time. That always made me laugh. You made many people laugh, Paul, and for that I thank you. I will always love and remember you. Your loving little sister
I knew Paul and the rest of the Preuss family from 1962 until present as his sister Sharon and I have been friends for 50+ years. I remember Paul’s grin more than anything, that “snidely, I am up to no good”, inviting grin. My condolences to each of you, his immediate family, and to his siblings, all of whom loved and appreciated him. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
Bud will be missed – he was someone we truly cherished and someone who made the most of his time here. Our prayers are with Rose and the Family!

“70” and Rosie are so alive in the childhood memories of the Werner kids growing up. Bud-(” 70″) always had time for the kids and was always such a fun person….We loved him so much referring to him as Uncle Bud. Rosie was a blessed addition to his life and we were all so blessed to spend time with them. They were both such positive role models. We will miss Bud’s warm smile, his quick wit and his positive outlook on life.
He was an excellent neighbor and will be greatly missed by all.

I’ve known Bud since 1971. I had the privilege of attending he and Rose’s wedding plus lots of wonderful reunions, Thanksgivings and get togethers. He was a funny and wonderful man. I will miss him a lot. Our condolences to his family and friends. Until we meet again my friend……
