Paul “Shanghi” Pierce

Paul “Shanghi” Pierce journeyed to Heaven on March 25th, 2024.  He was born in Calumet Michigan on February 13, 1931, to Edward and Minnie Pierce.

Paul was a devoted husband to Rhonda for over 34 years. Father to Angela (Ken), Tony (Marcia), Kim (Rob), Sheila, Cindy (Jamie). Grandfather to Kenny, Lindsey (Jerry), Jackie, Pearl (Ethan), Hanna, Nick (Alex), Tyler, Jiliann, Bailey, Alex, Sarah, Paul and Anna. Great grandfather to Emma. Brother-in-law to Lisa (Brad) and Kevin (Amy). Brother to the late Eddie and June (Tom). Uncle to Devin, Taylor, Ashley, Craig, Debbie (Jim), Kathy (Roger), Cheryl, and Paul.  

His true passion was spending time with his Family!  Paul enjoyed watching St. Louis Blues hockey, playing with his cats Buster and Buddy, golfing, eating Pasties, peanuts, and banana sandwiches with potato chips. He also enjoyed a good Rum and Diet Coke!

Paul proudly served in the United States Army and was a Private First Class and served at the time of the Korean War. His favorite part of serving in the army was playing on the baseball team.

Paul was passionate about working for the Federal Government as a computer programmer and project manager for over 35 years.  Later in life he enjoyed chauffeuring the elderly and disabled for Madison County Transit (MCT).

Paul was a good person that people gravitated towards. He never met a person that he didn’t leave with a smile.  He lived life to the fullest and he brought joy and laughter to everyone he spent time with!
