Peggy M. Bensinger
Peggy M. Bensinger passed away December 28, 2017, in St. Louis. Peg was the loving wife of Rick Bensinger for a to short 44 years. Mother of Aaron (Michelle) Bensinger and Norah (Ben) Shambaugh. She was the greatest gramma ever to Hannah Shambaugh and Madalyn White. Proceeded in death by her sister Mary Jo (John) Norum she was the sister of Anne (Frank) Barnstead-Klos, Michael (Judi) Barnstead and Mark (Pam) Barnstead. A fun and funny aunt to all of her nieces and nephews whom she loved as much as her own children.
She loved to read, loved flowers and loved, loved, loved babies. A good “discussion” would bring a sparkle to her eyes. Throw in good friends and good food and you had a trifecta.
A steadfast and driven businesswoman, a fierce advocate and servant to public education and a generous friend to many she was a supportive mother who taught her children that love knows no boundaries.
Please join family and friends on Thursday, January 4, from 2:00 to 4:30 at Frank Papas Restaurant, 2241 So. Brentwood Blvd., so we may laugh, cry and reminisce together.
My dear family – so very sad! Peg and I grew up , related ,together – and I so fondly remember her pointed sense of humor – after my wedding and back at my house trying to pack for my honeymoon- Peg rifiling through my suitcase – “what in the hell do you need ring cleaner for” – her laugh , is ringing in my ears the last few days – I am so very sad for the loss of a part of me – a love that I knew was always there . My prayers are with you all – know I love you and will pray for your strength and peace
and acceptance ????????
So sorry to hear this sad news.
Our deepest sympathies in your loss of Peggy – she was a great resource in our E&S Industry & shared her knowledge with us & our end users. She also was a great source of fun & laughter …. something we all need more of. We will miss you Peggy – RIP
Greg & I are so sad for your loss. Our heartfelt sympathy to you and your entire family.
Peggy was a hoot especially when came to politics. However the bio said friece that is without a doubt. Between her and Michael they took products that no one knew of and developed them into a force. I called her Margaret Mary. Prayers from the Geiger’s
I was sorry to read of Peggy’s passing. I will always remember her and Rick’s kindness to my father-in-law Joe Robbins. Please give
my sincere condolences to Rick and his family.
My heart goes out to all of you. You could not have said it better, she was the most personable person, a great loss to us all. I worked with Peggy through the years, and always looked forward to her sales visits. May God be with you during this very difficult time.
Sincerely,
Candy GruenewLd
Oh how I miss her. That could not have been written more beautifully. She truly treated everything child in the family like they were her own grandkids. All my love to the family near and far. Every day was a holiday and filled with presents when Aunt Peggy was around! The life of the party!
My sincere condolences to Rick and his family. Rick and Peggy are two beautiful people whom I have enjoyed through the years. They were my mother-in-laws neighbor for many years. They helped her
tremendously and she adored them. You are in my thoughts and prayers…..
My sympathies to Rick and family. I will always remember her laugh and seeing her at the polls on election day fighting for various bond issues when we lived in Brentwood. She was certainly one of the good ones and will be missed.
Sigh…Peg, one of a large tribe of cousins. We didn’t see each other that much in adulthood, but I know you were much loved by family, siblings, and we will miss you forever. Sadness.??
I was so shocked when Kathy Chew called to tell me. Life is so short for so many. Prayers for all of you as I know so well how much you will need them in the days ahead.
I’m shocked by the loss of Peggy, what a kind person who would put you at ease in a conversation. Peggy was such a down to earth likable person.
I knew Peggy from her being my sales rep for kitchen equipment, then had the pleasure to work with her for about 3 years promoting Rational ovens.
Peggy was a very good business lady who knew her products very well and that is what contributed to her success.
I’m going to miss Peggy and her outgoing and warm personality!!!
She was my very best friend almost my whole life (except for the teenage years when she “borrowed” my clothes without permission.) It was such an amazing privilege for Rick and Peg and me and Frank to live in the same city. Peg and I raised our kids together, buried our parents and our dear Jo, shared our struggles and joys, and then Grandmothered together. We were very fortunate in one another. Our lives were entwined and parallel and I’ll miss her more than I can possibly describe.
Our family sends our sincere sympathy and looks forward to a time when all tears will be tears of joy!
“He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
-Revelation 21:4.
Peggy was such a vibrant personality. It was a pleasure to be in her company. She was one of those people who brightens a room by walking in rather than walking out. My condolences to Rick and all of her family.
I have such wonderful memories of Peggy. She was a confident and kind sales woman who helped us thru the hurtles of new technology in commercial cooking. Her humor was contagious. One could not help but gravitate to her when she came in the room.
I will miss her dearly. My sympathies to the family. Please find comfort in knowing she’s waiting for us above!
I am so sorry for your loss! I agree, her laughter and the sparkle in her eyes was contagious!!! She sold me my first Stero Dish machine at Windsor School Food Services! The world has lost a gem!!
Sincerely,
Marlene
No words – just thankfulness for having known this force of nature named Peggy. Although I haven’t spoken with her in years, I will always carry the fondest of memories of our times together and remember her infectious laugh.
Please accept my sincerest condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of loss and sadness.
Peggy was such a vibrant lady. I don’t think I ever saw her without a smile on her face. Anytime we would be at a meeting together she would go out of her way to check on me and see how things were going. The joy and laughter that she shared will be sorely missed.
Please accept my deepest condolences. I was just thinking about her the other day. She will be so missed by me and the rest of the foodservice industry. I thank her for all the time she gave to our association, her colleagues, her company, family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
This is very sad news. I so enjoyed working with Peggy and getting to know her over the years. I will miss her laugh and her wicked sense of humor.
My sincere condolences to Rick and family. Peggy will be missed.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Peggy will be missed by our Team.
When I think of Peggy, I think of a rep with spirit and integrity. She was a leader. She was welcoming. She was fun to talk to. Be gentle with yourselves. Eat real food (coffee and donuts don’t count). And celebrate her well-lived life! She done good!!!

Peggy will be missed. She had a rare ability to leave her ego at the door before the MAFSI Board of Directors meetings. A wonderful soul that brought joy to a room simply by entering.
I was so sad to hear the news. Peggy was a fierce but friendly competitor when we first met. Then I got the pleasure of working for her and Mike. We joked and jabbed each other about politics. Her sharp wit and dry sense of humor made me like her even more. Nothing got by Peggy! It was a pleasure and a blessing to have known her. She will be missed.
I am so sad to hear about my dear, longtime friend. I had been out of the industry, but still stayed in touch via social media. We used to have some real fun conversations & she is missed by me & many others. She always called me Brodergirl which was an enduring, special nickname only know by a select few.
Peggy I Love You, Brodergirl
Truly a loss to our Industry as I had the pleasure of working with Peggy through MAFSI and later as my Rep. A great business woman with a sense of humor that made every contact love her!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rick and the family. May she rest in peace.

It is sad to lose such a wonderful woman, but it is sadder for all of those people who never live the years they are given. The beautiful words above reflect a wondrous life filled with love, friendships and enthusiasm for life. Peggy was always outgoing and happy, encouraging and flattering. We should all be so lucky in our lives to depart this world as Peggy did, leaving a legacy of family and friends, being remembered by many and loved by all.
My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and loved ones of Peggy. She was a friend and colleague, one who was a highly respected leader in our industry. She set an example for us all to follow.
