Phillip Hawkins
Phillip Joseph “Phil” Hawkins was received into eternal peace on August 21, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. He passed peacefully with his wife Mary by his side. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Dirksen) and son, Peter (Angela), and joins his dearly departed son, Andrew in eternal rest. Phillip was the son of the late Victor and Virginia Hawkins, son-in-law of the late Albert and Jane Dirksen, and brother of the late Ronald Hawkins, the late Rita Kruessel (Robert), brother-in-law of the late Kate Moon, Michael Dirksen, Robert Dirksen, John Dirksen (Patty), and Dennis Dirksen (Debbie). A loving husband, father, son, uncle, cousin, and dear friend to many.
In lieu of flowers; donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was Phil’s wish.
Phil will be remembered as a good man and neighbor.
Phil was my cousin, and as children we spent a lot of time together, because family was close and we all visited often. He was one of my best friends. He was an extremely nice man with a great sense of humor and heart of gold! I loved him very much. He was Godfather to my Son, and a very good one too!
I am so sorry he and his family had to go through this horrible sickness! I think sometimes people are forced to go through hell on earth, but he is now reunited with his dear son Andy, his mom and dad and Rita, so he is basking in that warmth, after fighting as long and hard as he could! Just know he was a great cousin, friend and man!
Phil was a good neighbor and very helpful to all the homeowners in taking care of their property while being a Board Member for many years. He had great talent and went out of his way to help others. Our friend will be solely missed.
