Phyllis Simon

Phyllis Theresa Simon, was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Stanley and Clara Helminski on September 20, 1928. She passed away at the age of 91 on October 15, 2019 at St. Clare Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Phyllis moved to St. Louis in 1963. She devoted herself to her children. In 1975 she took a job as a nurse’s aide at Shriners Hospital where she was inspired to go back to school and become a nurse. She completed her training in 1980 and had a long career working in oncology at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Blues were Phyllis’ team and she was overjoyed this year when the finally won they Stanley Cup – for her!

Phyllis’ strong family values living on in her four children, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and each will miss her in her in their own unique way.

Eighteen close family members were present with her at the time of her passing.

Children: Stewart Simon and sp Pam Gennaro; Kay Simon, sp Sarah Simon; Donna Hodges and sp Richard Hodges; and Laurie Fowler sp Danny Follower.

Grandchildren: Kyle Simon, sp Christina Gesmundo Simon; Kelli Stout, nee Simon, sp Justin Stout; Casey Simon, Angel Martin, nee Simon, sp Rodney Martin; Helena Janousek, nee Simon, sp Les Janousek; Donald Simon; Sarah Ariel Smith-Simon; Krista Krupp; Karley Renae Simon, Brian Knauer.

Great grandchildren: Gabreilla Simon, Ryan Simon, Chloe Martin, Hanna Martin, Devin Simon, Zachary Janousek, Trevor Krupp, Ayden Posada, Zachary Knauer, and Bodhi Forest Simon.
