Randy L. Phillips

Randy Lee Phillips, 62, of Glenarm, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 11:44 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital while comforted by those who loved him. He was born in Springfield, Illinois on April 28, 1960, to Betty Jean Phillips. He married Michelle Phillips on October 11, 2008, and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Ashley (Caleb) Barnett of Waverly; two sons, Austin Phillips of Waukegan and Jack Mauzy of Normal; two granddaughters, Faith and Frey Barnett with a grandson due in June; one brother, Jeff (Pam) Phillips of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother; four sisters, Donna Ferguson, Marilyn Hickey, Barb Verardi, and Pat Howlett; and two brothers, Mike and Dan Suter.

Randy’s number one interest was spending time with his family. He enjoyed attending all soccer and basketball games, making sure a great dinner was always on the table, and would drop whatever he was doing to be there when called. There was no question that Randy loved much and was much loved.

Randy was blessed with the opportunity to turn what he loved into a profession. Opening Rockin’ Robin in 1991, as a co-owner with his sister Barb and brother Mike, Randy acted as the nightclub’s DJ, where he could share his passion for music, including his own remixes. When not in the booth, you would find him enjoying his other passions of watching movies on the big screen or antiquing.

Michelle, and Family! I just want you to know how much we adored your dad. We knew him from Rockin Robin. Such the nicest man! My aunt Sandy and Uncle Nick used to go up and they became good friends with your dad as well. They loved him as well. When he was sick last time my aunt and uncle would go up and visit and my Aunt would read a story to him about traveling to certain destinations. It was like taking him on vacation without him having to get up . Last time I seen Randy was when he was passing through town when he worked for a hospital delivering meds or lab work.

I know he loved his kids and Michelle w all his heart and soul! He touched so many lives! He will never be forgotten! Love ya Randy!
