Rev. Suzanne Hardey Eastes

Reverend Suzanne (Sue) Hardey Eastes, a retired Episcopal priest in the Archdiocese of Missouri, passed away peacefully December 3, 2025 at her home in Ellisville, MO.  She was 89. Sue was born June 1, 1936 in Indianapolis, IN to Karl Hardey and Jane Hardey (Bird) oldest of 2 daughters.

Sue was driven to succeed in life whether breaking the glass ceiling in a male-dominated corporate world in the 1970s and 1980s or serving God as an Episcopalian priest in the 1990s and beyond. She loved classical music as well as to read books, teach others and mentor others.  She loved biking and hiking at places like the Katy Trail.  She loved life.

She graduated from Purdue University with a bachelors degree in Mathematics and the University of Minnesota with an MBA. In the 1970s, she pursued a career in technology at General Mills advancing into multiple levels of management, served as a deacon at St Georges Episcopal Church, and volunteered on the Golden Valley city planning commission.  She retired full-time career in technology in the 1980s to serve as an Episcopal priest.  After being ordained to the transitional diaconate in the Diocese of Minnesota and graduating from Nashotah House Theological Seminary WI in 1985, Sue served at Trinity Episcopal Church as part-time assistant priest. She was ordained to the priesthood there on February 2, 1986 by the Rt. Rev. William A. Jones, Jr.

Sue served in multiple congregations and in several capacities over the years, including as an associate priest at St. Augustines, St. Louis and St. Timothy’s, Creve Coeur. She also served with nonprofits across St. Louis, as an Education for Ministry mentor, and as a member of the Episcopal City Mission Board of Directors. After retiring fully, she worshiped at St. Martin’s in Ellisville.

She is survived by sons Christopher (Janet) and David (Sylvia); 5 grandchildren Alexandra (Ryan), Bridget, Michael (Stephanie), Timothy (Alyssa) and Emilee; and 6 great-grandchildren Hannah, Daisy, Ellie, Cooper, Hadley, and Ezra.

The Family will be having a funeral at St. Martins Episcopal church, 15674 Clayton Road, Ellisville, MO on January 17 at 11:00am. A Visitation precedes the service at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
