Richard Atherton

Richard Francis Atherton, 77, passed away peacefully April 19th surrounded by many loved ones. His last moments were full of lots of hugs and kisses, and reminiscing of his younger years as a husband, father, and grandfather. After 55 wonderful years of marriage, Richard is survived by his beautiful wife Joanne Atherton and three daughters Tracy Atherton Meinke, Wendy Trebat (Bob) and Christ Morey(Todd). Richard was blessed with eleven grandchildren, Krista(Konrad), Kimberly(Scott), Joseph(2017), Brittany, Alex, Brandon, Lucy, Liv, Grant, Kayla, and Alyssa. Richards last years of his life were spent living in O’Fallon Missouri with Joanne so that they could be close to their granddaughters Lucy and Liv, and became like a second father to them. He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved to garden, play solitaire, and always made the best omelets. He had a dry sense of humor but had a funny sideways smile while sticking out his tongue that always made us laugh. He had many accomplishments in his life that made us all incredibly proud, but if you asked him, he would say he was the most proud of his wonderful family. Although we will miss him immensely, we know that he is now with the angels in our family that have gone before him.

The Atherton family will have a private memorial April 28th. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Evelyn House in Creve Coeur, MO.

    Tracy and family,
I am very sorry for the loss of your father. It sounds like he lived a full life and was very loved. I hope you find peace in the memories.
