Passed away on March 4, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Dear son of the late Carl and Margaret Heflin, dear husband of Linda Heflin, father of William (Carrie Coleman), Waylon Heflin, the late Samuel Putnam (Debra), grandfather of Madison Heflin, Kelsey and Kiersten Heflin, Tylor Coleman and Haily Coleman, and Jacob Putman, great-grandfather of Caleb, Hunter, Brian and Isabella, brother to the late Ruth Baker (Ronald), Mary Russell (the late Butch Russell), Thomas Heflin (the late Vickie Heflin), Glenon Heflin (the late Sandy Heflin), Samuel Heflin (Rita Nosser), Winifred Gallaher (Michael), and Deanna Powderly (Bernard). He was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and cousin and friend to many. Richard served in Vietnam and received the Bronze Star Medal and other distinguishing medals. He was raised on the north side and was a big brother with 8 siblings. He worked various jobs in his life, from Stelmacki, Bussman Fuse, and Paramount Hat Company. He was a dear friend with Bill Moton. The Garbo family was his dear friends growing up.

Services: Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11am.
