Richard McMichael

Richard McMichael was born on March 18, 1943 and departed this life on November 1, 2017 with Vicki, his loving wife of 52 years at his side. His spirit lives on in his beloved children Joshua, Rebecca, and Amanda, his sister and brother Amy and Cliff, and his faithful “granddog” Woofie, the Corgi.
His father A. I. ”Mac” McMichael preceded him in death, as did his mother Ruth, who left us in October of 2017, at 99 years of age. Ruth loved to bake for her family, so we take comfort in imagining the three of them, enjoying each other’s company once again and feasting on Ruth’s homemade cookies (crisp apricot turnovers were a family favorite.)
Dick was fascinated with machines from the time he was a little boy. He became a mechanical engineer and worked on the Saturn rocket used in the Apollo moon program and then worked as an engineer for architectural and construction companies. His interest in machines and his creativity were evident in the hobbies he pursued: restoring old motorcycles, Model T cars, and vintage sports cars, and creating accurate replicas of historic weapons that he and his friends used in reenactments of the fur trade era.

In addition to his immediate family, Dick is survived by a loving extended family. He also leaves behind many dear friends and business associates.
Memorial Service Saturday March 17, 2018, at The Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens, 8749 Watson Rd, Webster Groves 63119. Visitation at 1:00 pm, service at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, etc., please donate to:

From the first time I met Dick, I knew he so loved his family. Once he began talking about “Miss Vicki”, any of his children, or his mother, the conversation lasted a great while. He was sincere, brilliant and honest. He had all of the characteristics that we all need to have. He is missed! Sincerest of prayers for the family to live with great memories!

Dick is my dear friend, and kindred spirit.
I already miss our long talks and sipping spirits in his parlor. he will always be with us in deer camp.

Dick had a great smile as did his brother Cliff. Both were gentle giants with great intelligence and high character. His Mother and Father were two of the finest people I ever knew. Rest in Peace great McMichael family.
