Richard “Tag” Lee Parker
Richard “Tag” Lee Parker passed away suddenly on May 12, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on February 11, 1957, in Johnstown.
Tag was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Eby Parker and Vergina Sowder Parker.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Ruby (Derek) Fannin; his son, Mason Parker; his cherished grandchildren, Ollie and Opal Fannin; his brother, Steve (Patty) Parker; his nephew, Ben Parker; and his niece, Ariana (Matthew) Bailey. Tag also leaves behind many lifelong friends and extended family members whose lives were enriched by his humor, kindness, and stories. He made his home in St. Louis for over 40 years.
Tag dedicated 30 years of work as a stagehand with Local Union 6. He had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys and could often be found reading, playing music, golfing, riding motorcycles, or spending time sharing stories and laughter with friends and family. He was known for his warm personality, quick wit, and ability to make those around him feel welcome.
The majority of Tag’s remains will be laid to rest at the Parker family plot at New Carlisle Cemetery. Portions of his ashes will also remain with his children and be spread at some of his favorite golf courses and meaningful places he loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 24, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Soulard Station, 1911 South 12th Street, Soulard, Missouri.
Good friend and neighbor 26 years
Was a very good friend was more like family to me had 17 years of just a great friend ship he will be missed so much. R.i.p Luv and miss ya Tag.. Keleen and Kyle Singen.
Tag was my friend and among several roommates in Springfield, Mo. back in the late ‘70s. We lived on St. Louis Street and Cherry street. Those were some special days; just left the nest and finding our way. Tag was a free spirited fun lover. Haven’t been in touch for many years. He’s the first of my Springfield days to pass and I was sad to hear of it. Fly on, Tagger Lee.
“Tag,” Richard Parker was a friend and coworker of mine back in the summer of ’76. We built in-ground swimming pools together, nine of ’em in seven weeks. Lean, tan, and full of life and fun.
Tag worked hard, partied hard and loved just about everybody.
A true free spirit by nature; if you got to know Tag, you remember him. I always will.

Rest in peace. I was recently going through boxes of old photos and came across photos from my days in St. Louis back in 1982-85. I was a student at WashU at the time. I was living off campus and we would congregate at a place we called the Delmar Dump on many evenings for jam sessions. It was a big old, run down house. I was a horrible musician, Tag was far better. Some others who would play at these evenings – Jack McLaughlin and Dave Miller. Any way, seeing the pictures and remembering how much fun it was to be with those people caused me to go looking for lost friends. I’m very sad to see I was a little too late.
