Ridgeley Weinberg
Ridgeley Mayer Weinberg was born to Robert and Shirley Mayer in Oakland California in 1948. Shortly after her birth the family moved back east for her father’s banking career. Ridgeley attended the Beard School in New Jersey where she became class president and played field hockey and basketball. She was accepted to Wellesley College in Boston and graduated in 1970. During that time her interest and talent for fashion and design blossomed and she obtained a degree at Parsons School of Design in New York.
She married Michael Weinberg, her sparrow, in 1978 at the UN Chapel in New York. The two lived in Brooklyn for many years, until Ridgeley’s career took them to St. Louis. For more than five decades Ridgeley dressed middle America. As a design vice president for one of the nation’s largest retailers, and an expert in knitwear, Ridgeley traveled the world to find the best fashion trends and newest styles for the stores. Always a perfectionist, she established a formal garment approval process with factories in China. Along the way, she nurtured and coached younger talent both in New York and St. Louis.
Ridgeley was intellectually curious, open-hearted, and a natural leader. Even after a Parkinson’s diagnosis, and its ensuing health challenges, her determination and organization enabled her to continue to live on her own terms.
Ridgeley passed away November 27, 2025. She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years; her brother Robert, his wife Mary and their children: Ridgeley’s nephew Ian and his wife Erin, nephew Bret and his wife Naomi, niece Lyndsey and great-niece Sienna.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
