Ridgeley Weinberg 1968

Ridgeley Weinberg

Ridgeley Mayer Weinberg was born to Robert and Shirley Mayer in Oakland California in 1948. Shortly after her birth the family moved back east for her father’s banking career. Ridgeley attended the Beard School in New Jersey where she became class president and played field hockey and basketball. She was accepted to Wellesley College in Boston and graduated in 1970. During that time her interest and talent for fashion and design blossomed and she obtained a degree at Parsons School of Design in New York.

She married Michael Weinberg, her sparrow, in 1978 at the UN Chapel in New York. The two lived in Brooklyn for many years, until Ridgeley’s career took them to St. Louis. For more than five decades Ridgeley dressed middle America. As a design vice president for one of the nation’s largest retailers, and an expert in knitwear, Ridgeley traveled the world to find the best fashion trends and newest styles for the stores. Always a perfectionist, she established a formal garment approval process with factories in China. Along the way, she nurtured and coached younger talent both in New York and St. Louis.

Ridgeley was intellectually curious, open-hearted, and a natural leader. Even after a Parkinson’s diagnosis, and its ensuing health challenges, her determination and organization enabled her to continue to live on her own terms.

Ridgeley passed away November 27, 2025. She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years; her brother Robert, his wife Mary and their children: Ridgeley’s nephew Ian and his wife Erin, nephew Bret and his wife Naomi, niece Lyndsey and great-niece Sienna.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Ridgeley was my boss and mentor as we worked side by side at Aquarius Ltd. for several years. We became very close friends immediately and remained close always! After our retirement I often spent time with Ridgeley taking her to the art museum in Saint Louis where we spent time talking and discussing the works of art we were enjoying! She will remain forever in my heart as a wonderful friend!

I had the privilege of knowing Ridgeley for many years, and I will always remember her for her exceptional leadership and kindness. She was a patient and thoughtful friend, always taking the time to listen and offer advice, no matter the situation. Her ability to lead with grace and respect made everyone around her feel valued.

Ridgeley’s patience and understanding made her a truly special mentor to me. I learned so much from her about the importance of listening, supporting others, and building strong, meaningful connections. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing her.
