Robert “Bob” Schaefer

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert “Bob” C. Schaefer, beloved husband of Bonnie Schaefer, loving father of Lisa Medgaus, Jeff (Nenita) Schaefer, the late Chris Schaefer, Mark (Tori) Schaefer, and Michael (Kris) Schaefer, son of Robert A. and Ruth C. Schaefer; loving brother of Janet (Jack) Baumstark; grandfather to Cameron, Rosie, Madison, Emily, Maria, Riley, Christopher, Sydney, Matthew, Amelia; and dear uncle, and friend. Bob was born April 7, 1939 and lived a fulfilling life. Bob’s heart stopped because he had given most of it to his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Bob was born in St. Louis, MO and attended St. Louis University High School and St. Louis University. He dutifully served his country in the United States Air Force as a First Lieutenant from 1962 – 1965. After his years in the service, he worked as a Human Resources manager for various companies until retirement.

Bob’s greatest joys in life were his family, pride for his country, and his Oreck vacuum cleaner. He had a great sense of humor and was always the life of the family gatherings. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

A funeral service will be held in his honor at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cottleville, 1355 Motherhead Rd, Cottleville, MO 63304, on Tuesday, January 31, visitation starting at 10:00 am, memorial mass at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Louis University High School, Attn: Business Office, 4970 Oakland Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110, In Memory of Bob Schaefer ’57.
