Robert “Bob” William Antill

Robert William Antill, age 73, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at St. Louis University Hospital. 

He was born on February 25, 1953, to Anna Mae and Elmer Antill in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at Magee Hospital. 

At the age of four Bob and his family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where he became an avid swimmer and learned to fly with the local Civil Air Patrol before he had his license to drive. He was honored as Cadet of the Year by his CAP Squadron. Before Bob’s senior year in high school his family moved to Denver, Colorado where he graduated from South Denver High School. He enjoyed being a member of the South Denver High School Swim Team. 

After high school he studied forestry at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado where he met his wife, Julie Caudle. He loved rock climbing, skiing, hiking, and camping in the Colorado Rockies. Bob and Julie were married in 1978 in Evergreen, Colorado. When their sons were young, they moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri where Bob completed his college degree at Southeast Missouri State University. His love for the outdoors continued as he made several canoe trips down the Mississippi River for various benefit causes. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and joined the Secular Order of Franciscans. He never met a stranger, loved to have coffee with his friends, read, do his devotions and Bible study, and enjoyed meeting with friends for Centering Prayer and yoga. 

He is survived by his wife, Julie; his sons, Matthew Antill (Krista) of Cape Girardeau, Cody Antill (Morgan) of Kelso; his sister Kathy Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Tracy Antill of St. Louis, Nathan Antill and Sean Antill of Cape Girardeau, Violet Antill of Cape Girardeau, Francesca, Leo, and Eloise Rosati of Kelso; nieces Chelsey Caudle of Akron, Ohio, Ally Altz of Omaha, Nebraska, and nephew Josh Johnson of Driggs, Idaho. 

Robert is also preceded in death by Elmer Antill and Anna Mae Antill.

A celebration of his life with local musicians will be held on June 20, 2026, at Ebb and Flow restaurant in downtown Cape Girardeau. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catholic Social Ministries Food Pantry in Cape Girardeau.
