On December 4, 2023, Robert Daniel Mangan, affectionately known as Bob, passed away in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 95. Bob was born on November 17, 1928 and grew up in Jackson Heights, Long Island, New York.

A veteran of the United States Army, Bob served with distinction in the elite 82nd Airborne Division, a testament to his patriotism and valor.

Bob’s academic journey culminated in his graduation from Cornell University, laying the foundation for a distinguished career. Bob excelled as an International and Regional Sales Manager within 3M Company’s Abrasives Systems Division. He retired in 1989 after 38 years with 3M. Subsequently, Bob and his beloved wife, Vicki, relocated to New Bern, North Carolina, where they immersed themselves in community life. Bob and Vicki were founding members of the New Bern Yacht Club, members of the Eastern Carolina Yacht Club, the New Carolinians, and a local gourmet club. Bob also was a proud member of Civitans and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, New Bern. Bob moved to St Peters, Missouri in November of 2020, where he lived with his daughter and son-in-law until his passing.

Bob’s passions included traveling, boating, woodworking, the culinary arts, and beating his son-in-law at Cribbage. Many cherished memories were made during summers spent at the family cabin on Cedar Island, Lake Vermilion in Northern Minnesota.

Bob was a wonderful and devoted husband and father. He leaves behind a loving family: his son Richard Mangan (Katy), daughter Karen Nolte (Dennis), daughter-in-law Vicki Mangan, granddaughters Kelly Brown (John), Cierra, Callie, and Tommi Mangan, grandson Kyle Nolte (Molly), great granddaughters Stella, Eleanor and Evelyn Brown, and his dear companion Nada Behr. He joins in eternity his wife of 51 years, Shirley (Vicki) Mangan (who preceded him in death in 2004), his son Robert D. Mangan Jr., and his parents Daniel and Helen Mangan.

In accordance with his final wishes, Bob was cremated. His remains will receive Army Military Honors upon their interment at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Missouri.
