Robert Eugene Britt

Passed away on January 16, 2014; beloved father of Robert James Britt and Susan Mary Britt, dear Grandfather of Zachary Hill and Sadie Hill, loving brother of Carol, uncle of Deborah, Delores and Britt and special relative and friend of many others.

A carpenter by trade, inventor of the adjustable threshold, and a proud Korean War Veteran (U.S. Army), Bob was an avid golfer, fisherman and bowler. Whether dry and deadpan or silly and goofy, his sense of humor was renowned.

Private memorial services will be held at later dates, where his cremated remains will be scattered in his favorite fishing holes in the Courtois and Huzzah creeks in Crawford County and along the Gulf Coast.

My condolences to all. Bob & I were close friends for nearly 40 years. We shared many good times together and help each other through some bad times. My memories of Bob will forever be pleasant ones. No more pain, and in peace at last.

Three guys sitting in their lawn chairs, feet in the cool waters of the the Huzzah Valley river. Drinking beer, smoking cigarettes and swaping stories. Still Smiling. G.B.N.F.

    Dear Sue, Sadie and Zach,
You have so many of your Father and Grandfather’s wonderful qualities that we all loved so much.
Sue – you have your fathers strong will and determination. You made us proud in how you fought for your Father’s welfare and well being…never giving up hope…until there was obviously no hope for your Father’s recovery.
Sadie – even when your heart was hurting you brought joy to your Grandfather with your beautiful smile, kind and gentle words.
Zach – out of love and respect you have shown great honor to your Grandfather by recieving the U.S. flag for his military service and by holding your sister up with your consoling supportive presence.
Love manifested itself through you in
strength, joy, kindness, love, honor and in so many other ways that we love and appreciate about you all.
Our condolences and heartfelt prayers are with you and all the family.
    Debbie, Robin and Carol

I am so sorry for your loss. One of the true joys of working at House Springs Golf Course was getting to meet and know Bob. His wonderfully dry sense of humor was a joy to those of us who hung out at the golf course, whether that was for a day or for decades. He was never one to complain about his problems, but he would be more than willing to listen to you talk about your own, and like as not, he would find a way to get you laughing about them. He’s been sincerely missed since he moved, and it will be more so now that he will no longer visit. We’ll share a toast and some stories when the golf league starts up again. God’s peace to your family during this difficult time.
