Robert Eugene Short

November 23, 1957 ~ April 19, 2018

Robert Eugene Short born November 23,1957 was just 60 years old when he entered Heaven on April 19th, 2018. His last days and moments were filled with countless kisses and hugs and multitudes of “Rob ” stories. Rob survived by Maureen Short and their two sons, Ian and Colin who were his world. Rob was the son of the late Donald and Audrey Short. He leaves behind his siblings, Patti Short; Dan (Connie) Short; and Bryan (Debbie) Short. He was a great uncle to Justin (Beka) Short, Jeff Short(Rob Scott), and his niece/Goddaughter to Jennifer(James) Young. Rob cherished his aunt & uncle Edwin and Iris Hosto. Rob was a great brother in law to the Kellys, Ed (Anita) Kelly; Karen Schooling (David Maldonado); Shawn(Kim) Kelly; Tim Kelly (the late Anita Geiger); and Heather Connell. He was a wonderful son in law to Loretta and the late Ed Kelly. He was the sweetest uncle to Katie, Grace, the late E.J.,Ryan, Sheenah, Nate, Shane, Casey, Timothy, Tristen, Lauren, Patrick, Austin, Madi, a great-uncle to Reese, Rowan, Truman, and Louis. And of course, we can’t forget his sidekick, Leo! Rob leaves behind a host of family and friends.
Rob enjoyed fishing, games shows (Jeopardy being his favorite), spending time with family, especially his sons at Table Rock Lake in Branson. He also spent time riding boats, cliff jumping and roller coaster rides. He was an avid reader and most legendary was his love for music, owning at one time a collection of over 500 CDs. Rob was an employee at Ozark Airlines, TWA, then retiring from American Airlines. Rob was a stranger to no one. Everyone either knew Rob or knew of him! His laughter was contagious and his energy would fill the room. He had us laughing even in his last days, he was the one cheering us up. Rob had the biggest heart of anyone you’ve ever met. He gave generously, even if it was his last dollar. He took care of strangers with many kind gestures of humanity. We will miss his grand presence in our lives immensely.

Rob was such a big part of our wonderful memories with all our Short family cousins and Aunt Audrey and Uncle Don. We are so saddened by Rob’s passing but blessed to have seen him, however briefly, just a week before…and an opportunity to tell him we love him. Our condolences and love to all the family.

My prayers are with you all! Rob had a special place in my heart for all his kindness to me. I know he is in a great place with family and friends – laughing – fishing – and looking over all his earthly family and friends.

Even though we have not kept in touch over the years, I have wonderful memories of visits with our “Short” cousins! Robbie along with Patty always seemed to make us laugh. Our prayers and love to Dan, Patty, Bryan and all the family.

A perfect Eulogy! He was one of a kind and it’s terrible he died so soon. I’m sure his positive traits were passed to his sons! How can you be around such a great person and not have his personality wear off on you! Rest in peace Rob. May all remember the happy memories to ease our grief.

Rob u were a huge part of me and my kids lives. When my kids were little u were always there helping me pick the kids up, making BBQ for dinner, cutting my grass or just needing someone to talk to. Now my kids r older and I don’t need as much help u were always checking in to see if I need anything. U have a huge heart and God took u to soon but now u can be a guardian Angel. I will cherish every memory and hold it dear to my heart. Ian and Colin I know will follow in your footsteps helping people just like u did. RIP my friend/neighbor.

Rob and I dated in high school. Gosh, that was so long ago! I just saw about his passing on facebook. So sad and I feel bad for his sons. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family at this difficult time. I’ve always remembered how kindly his family treated me. Blessings to all.

It would take ages to tell all of the funny stories of which Rob was a part of. As Billy Joel once wrote “Only the Good Die Young”. He’ll always have a special place in my heart, as well as all of friends he had over the years. He was the type of friend that you might only see once every year or so but you felt like it was only yesterday. He’ll be missed.

Though I haven’t seen all my cousins since we were teenagers, you all are in my prayers and thoughts. Take care of yourselves, Dan, Patti and family. Love you.

I was very fortunate to have seen Rob and had great talks with him these past few months. We talked over the times we went out on the river , all the music we loved [ and a couple great cassettes he put together for me ], all the Ozark parties , and our last 3 years working together in Miami. We both enjoyed this little Tiki Hut , The Riptide , on Hollywood Beach. Rob was a lot of fun and could always get you to laugh. You will be missed , Rob. God Bless. Ron

My heart is so saddened at the death of this great kid! Every time I had the chance to meet with him, Maureen and the Boys was special — for me, he lit of the room with a big smile, and a hug. My love and prayers are with all of you; my heart hurts at your loss. Much love to Maureen, Ian and Colin, the Short Family and the Kelly family and friends. Love, Aunt Marie

Dear Short family–you are all in my prayers. As an attorney to Rob over the years, I can honestly say that in 27 years of practice, Rob is one of my all-time favorite clients. He meant the world to me and my office staff–we felt he was part of the family. The world has lost one great man.

My Uncle Rob will be remembered for many, many things, but when I think of him I think of the “cool uncle”. The uncle that made the fall off the bone ribs. The uncle with the uncountable CD collection. So much of the soundtrack to my childhood are songs I heard at my Uncle Rob and Aunt Maureen’s house on summer Sunday’s at their pool. I don’t think about my childhood without those days of having my uncle judge my diving contests with my best friend, or me raiding his refrigerator for my 4th Lotto Popsicle of the day. I still can’t believe you are really gone and you will be missed more then you could ever know. Love you so very much Uncle Rob.
    Love,
    Sheenah “Boopalina”
