Robert Glore

Robert Lynn Glore

3/15/37 – 4/2/26

Bob passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.  He was born in Esther, MO.  His family moved to St. Louis when he was young.   He graduated from McKinley High School in 1956.   He furthered his studies at Southwest Missouri State & Northeast Missouri State where he obtained his master’s degree in 1963.

He was previously married to Patricia Glore (nee Burger) where they resided in south county and raised their three daughters:  Tina Gaffney (preceded in death), Sheila (Karl) Thompson and Rita (Dave) Gardner.

He was a loving grandfather to Patrick & Danielle, Tyler & Zach, Jackson, Sam and Nick; dear grandfather to Ireland & Jett.

He was preceded in death by his parents J Orville & Jewell and his siblings LeRoy, John, Paula, Irma and Betty.   Surviving siblings are Joy Snyder and Brenda (Don) Trokey.

He chose a path in education.  First at Dewey Elementary School, then  Southwest High School and finished his career at Affton High School.  His entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-owning & operating Castlewood Swim and Tennis Club, purchasing rental properties in South St. Louis and then buying a home in Dixon, MO where he met his beloved companion, Kim Bostic.   Over the years he owned cattle, horses, goats and rabbits.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later time.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Glore. I had the privilege of being one of his Driver’s Education students at Affton High School back in the early 1980s. He is truly one of those teachers I will never forget.

My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him. I feel grateful to have been one of his students. He will be remembered with great fondness.

Mr. Glore loved talking golf and chose to be friendly to students everyday. I was lucky to also work for his brother John when he was a principal at Fort Zumwalt H.S. I automatically got “street cred” with Principal Glore when I told him I was an Affton guy!!

I hope every member of Mr. Glore’s family can read the warm remembrances on the Facebook group of Affton Friends Who Are No Longer With Us. He certainly had a positive impact on many students at Affton Senior high, and was a good influence on generations of drivers!! Thank you Mr. Glore, and may you be resting in peace.

I will forever miss my Uncle Bob. So many fond memories and stories. Who else would give a newly 16 yr old niece the keys to his Cadillac on Thanksgiving and say” take all the kids for a ride!”
He was always smiling and treated you as an individual. He loved his sissy Irma’s Bologna salad, which I had the privilege to inherit her meat grinder and make him some several times! He said it was just as good!! Tell mom, grandma, grandpa, aunt Paula, aunt Betty, uncle John , uncle Leroy, sweet cousin Tina, hello and we miss them!

Coach Glore was my driver’s Ed instructor in 1966. After all this time I still think of him on occasion while driving. Two important things he said, that have always stuck in my mind, “aim high” and “never totally trust your mirrors”.
