Robert Hachmeister

Mr. Robert “Bob” John Hachmeister, age 74, of Creve Coeur, Mo., formerly of Rochester, entered into Eternal Life on July 24, 2018, after a courageous battle against cancer.

Mr. Hachmeister was born in Chicago on Aug. 8, 1943, to Marcella (Kosinski) and Marvin Hachmeister. He graduated from Chicago Musical College of De Paul University in 1968.

Bob was united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Claire (Carey) on Oct. 5, 1968. They were blessed with three children, Michael (Darcy), Matthew (Beverly) and Patti Anne; and two grandchildren: Patrick and Abigail.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Marcella; and his brother, Mark. He is survived by his wife; children; grandchildren; sister, Dale (Doug) Munson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hachmeister was a church musician and liturgist for 50 years, serving at the following parishes: St. Teresa (Belleville, Ill.), St Patrick (Rolla, Mo.), St. Joseph (Moorhead), St. John the Evangelist (Rochester) and as an organist at First Presbyterian (Rolla, Mo.), Trinity Lutheran (Elgin) and Assisi Heights (Rochester). In addition to being an organist and liturgist, Mr. Hachmeister worked at Jacks or Better restaurant (St Louis), Ronnoco Coffee (St Louis) and Kraft/Craig Distributing (Salem, Mo.). Mr. Hachmeister is a published composer and was the director of the Belleville Philharmonic Chorale.

Bob will be remembered by family and friends for his strong and undying love and support of his family, his faith, his music ministry, his contagious smile that could light up a room and his heartfelt and infectious giggle and laugh.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Channel One (Rochester), St. Luke’s Hospice and St. Anthony’s at de Greeff Hospice House in St Louis. The Hachmeister family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and hospice organizations.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 27, and one hour before the service at Assisi Heights in Rochester. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Assisi Heights, 1001 14th St NW, Rochester, MN 55901.
