Robert Joseph Wilson
May 18, 1950 – May 14, 2026
Robert Joseph Wilson, lovingly known as Bob, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by his girls. He was born on May 18, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Alicia and Robert Wilson, who preceded him in death.
Bob was the devoted partner of Donna Wilson for 32 wonderful years. Their love story began at St. Richard’s Church, where Bob first noticed Donna and her daughters across the sanctuary. Fate brought them together at a playground when they discovered they both had daughters named Megan Wilson. What began as friendship soon blossomed into a lasting partnership filled with love, laughter, and family.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Amanda Parsley (Ken Parsley), Megan Teresa Wilson (Dwayne Meriweather), Margaret “Meagan” Wilson, and Lauren Wilson (Joey Kohnen); his cherished grandchildren Patrick Parsley, Matthew Parsley, and Zoey Meriweather; and his sisters Alicia Wilson, Anita Wilson, and Chiquita Wilson.
Bob was a devoted father and grandfather who took immense pride in his family. He never missed a game or practice and spent countless hours at batting cages, softball fields, and basketball courts coaching and encouraging his daughters. He proudly told anyone who would listen about his “doctor, lawyer, artist, and animal researcher.”
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bob especially loved baseball and basketball. He continued playing baseball well into his 40s and was respected as both an outstanding player and mentor. Though speed was never his strongest asset, he joked that by the end of his career he either hit singles or home runs. Younger teammates admired his leadership both on and off the field.
In 2020, Bob was honored by the Greater St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame as part of its Player Class of 2020 for his accomplishments at Beaumont High School, Meramec Community College, and with the Sotolar Pointers. During his time with the Pointers, the team won five CYC Major League Championships and five NBC state championships. Bob compiled a .360 batting average with 183 hits, 49 doubles, 21 home runs, and 152 RBIs.
Bob was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and a dedicated supporter of the LA Lakers. He loved talking sports with his sons-in-law and discussing politics with his daughters. Following his career at Sears, Bob devoted much of his time to teaching and coaching baseball and softball, including coaching at Harris-Stowe State University. He truly loved helping young athletes develop both skill and confidence.
In his later years, Bob treasured time with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papa Bob.” He delighted in hearing Patrick and Matthew play their instruments and was endlessly proud of their accomplishments. He also loved hearing about Zoey’s latest athletic pursuits — even forgiving her for choosing soccer over softball — and proudly credited her height to his side of the family.
Bob fought hard to remain with those he loved for as long as he could. His strength, humor, dedication, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
