Robert M Capstick

Robert (Bob) Malvern Capstick passed away peacefully at his home, fortified by the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, surrounded by his family on February 21, 2016. He was 78 years old.

Bob was born on August 1, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri, the oldest of two sons born to the late Malvern and Mary Capstick. He graduated from McBride High School and went on to receive his English Literature degree from Washington University. He and Susan formed the Light of Christ prayer group and later helped lead a prayer group for kids called God’s Gang. He also served on many ACTS and REAP retreats and many Life in the Spirit Seminars. He enjoyed camping with his family, reading many spiritual books (especially the Bible), and spending time with his wife. On December 1, 1999, at the age of 62, he retired from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch after 44 years of employment. When he retired, he and his wife Susan moved to Dardenne Prairie, Missouri and became members of Assumption Catholic Church. Bob died after a nine month battle with esophageal cancer. He will be remembered for his deep faith in God, love of family, thirst for knowledge, and sense of adventure.
