Ronald Arthur Smith
Ronald Arthur Smith, 81, of Arnold, Missouri, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025, surrounded by his beloved wife and children after bravely living with chronic heart and lung disease. With the same quiet strength and calm presence that defined his life, Ron faced his final days with grace, offering comfort to those around him until the very end.
Ron met Janice (Dressel) in 1964 on a blind date, and from that first meeting, their connection was undeniable and enduring. They were married in the winter of 1965 and together built a life centered on love, laughter, and devotion to family. Over the years, their bond only deepened, and the life they created became a haven not only for themselves but for all who knew them.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ron was most proud of the family he and Janice raised. He was a loving father whose children carry forward his legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering integrity.
Ron lived a rich life filled with meaningful friendships, passions, and an open heart. He was an avid fisherman and a lover of nature, always drawn to the calm and beauty of the outdoors. He had a natural gift for storytelling, and his tales—whether funny, thoughtful, or wise—captivated all who listened. Whether you had known Ron for a few minutes or a lifetime, he had a way of making you feel seen, heard, and valued.
His home was his sanctuary, and he worked hard to make it a place of peace and welcome for everyone who entered. It reflected who he was: warm, genuine, and deeply rooted in love.
Ron is survived by his cherished wife, Janice Smith; his children, Cynthia Stauffer, Ronald E. Smith (Nancy), and Melinda Olds (CJ); his grandchildren, Alyssa Stevenson, John Stevenson, Janelle Randall (née Stauffer), Jackson, and Remington; and his great-grandchildren, Leo, Kade, and Briar. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Smith (Gloria), and his brother-in-law, Bob Weber.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred Smith (née Bacon), his sister, Mary Weber (née Smith), and his son-in-law, Leo Stauffer.
A private celebration of life will be held on April 26, 2025.
