Ronald Lee Strothcamp

Mr. Ronald Lee Strothcamp, 78, of Sturdivant, Missouri, passed away on March 24, 2025, in Sturdivant with family by his side. Born on August 23,1946, in St. Louis, Missouri to Fred and Revella Strothcamp. Ronald lived a life rooted in hard work, devotion to family, and a deep love for the outdoors.

Ronald dedicated many years of his career to the construction industry, working with Herzog, Penzel, and Goodwin Brothers Construction companies. Through his work helping to build numerous buildings and bridges, he left a lasting mark not only on the landscape but also on the many colleagues who came to admire his dedication and skill. His contributions were more than structural—they were personal impressions etched into the lives of those who worked alongside him.

On November 21, 1964, Ronald married Joan Blankenship, daughter of Alvin and Elsie Blankenship. Their union spanned over six decades—a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together they built a family that was always at the center of Ronald’s heart.

His loving survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joan (Blankenship) Strothcamp; his son Rodney Strothcamp (Ed Roullard); daughters Jonette Strothcamp and Janice Strothcamp (Jeff Willis); granddaughters Cassie (Garrett) Garner and Shelby (Drew) Johnson; and great-grandchildren Abigail Garner, Rebekah Garner, Leah Garner, Ronni Johnson, Riggs Johnson, and another expected one due in July 2025.Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Revella Strothcamp; his in-laws, Alvin and Elsie Blankenship; Baby Strothcamp, Ronald and Joan’s child that was only held in their hearts; and baby Garner.

As a man who found joy in nature and adventure, Ronald loved hunting, fishing, camping, and working outdoors. Whether it was a trip to the lake or a journey to the beach with family in tow, he had an uncanny ability to find new paths—never getting lost but just taking the scenic route. All the adventures became cherished memories for all those who shared them with him.

Above all else, Ronald loved his family deeply. His presence brought warmth and strength to every gathering. He will be missed beyond measure by all who knew him.

May his memory bring comfort to those whose lives he touched.

    To the Strothcamp family,
I wasn’t fortunate enough to know Mr. Strothcamp but I feel like I’ve known him for 20 years. I met Jan A about that many years ago when she started working @ St. Francis. Through the years she shared so many wonderful stories, experiences and memories of her Dad, from those I can tell he was a good father, terrific grandpa and he loved his great grands! He also loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing or working for Penzel. He passed that passion down to his children. What a legacy. His passing is a great loss to everyone that knew him. I am so sorry for your loss. God be with each and every one of you!
    LUMI,
    Edna M Yarbro

I loved my Uncle dearly and am so glad for the time when I lived in SouthEast MO and got to spend a good bit of precious time with My Uncle Ronnie, Aunt Joan, and their kids/family. Ronnie loved showing us his farm… he took me mistletoe hunting and gigging. He was a great man, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and more. Much love to Aunt Joan and family. ❤️
