Ronald Michael Kirkpatrick
Ronald Michael Kirkpatrick, D.V.M, passed away peacefully at home on August 13, 2024, at the age of 77.
Ronald, the son of Charlton Edward Kirkpatrick and Geneva Ellen Kirkpatrick (Perkins), was born on January 3, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Yvonne Ellen Kirkpatrick; lovingly remembered by his daughter, Michele Ann Lashly (Kirkpatrick); son-in-law, Stephen Lashly; granddaughter, Natalie Ann Lashly; brother, Edward Eugene Kirkpatrick; sister-n-law, Yolanda M. Mense; and nephews Scott Kirkpatrick, Kevin Kirkpatrick, and Brian Mense.
Ronald was a graduate of Missouri University College of Veterinary Medicine. For 47 years he owned and operated Parkway Animal Clinic, a small animal clinic, in Chesterfield, Missouri. He loved working with the animals and their owners and found great satisfaction and happiness partnering with both. Working as a veterinarian was his lifelong goal.
Ron was a Life Member of the St. Louis Veterinary Medical Association. In addition, he was featured on a T.V. program called Pet Talk, where he shared pet health care advice specific to our area.
Ron was a St. Louis Zoo Parent and a member of the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Evening Herbalists and volunteered in the Faust Park heritage gardens in Chesterfield, Missouri, where he worked with medicinal, culinary, fragrance, and ornamental herbs. In addition, he was a member of the Botanical Gardens Water Gardens group and built a water garden in his backyard as well as a Native Wildlife Habitat which was certified by the National Wildlife Federation and which he enjoyed sharing with his neighbors.
Ron, a deeply spiritual man who enjoyed life will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eliot Unitarian Chapel, 100 South Taylor Ave Kirkwood, MO 63122, on October 20, 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
In Lieu of Flowers donations may be sent to ASPCA, St. Louis Zoo, Missouri Botanical Gardens, and Shriners Hospital.
Ron was such a dear, sweet and gentle man. I was privileged to have known him and shared many wonderful conversations about this world and beyond. I will miss him!
Ron was a dear member of our Earth-Based Spirituality covenant group for many years. We will miss him.
His many friends in the Brightfield neighborhood enjoyed seeing Ron, Yvonne and their little dog Izzy on their late afternoon walks. Their presence and conversations brought a smile of delight to so many. He will be missed.
