Russell “Rusty” Thompson
July 15th, 1957 – February 5th, 2025
Russell “Rusty” Lemuel Thompson, lovingly known as the “Mayor of the Court,” passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on July 15, 1957, in St. Louis, MO, Russ was a devoted husband, father, uncle, brother, brother in law, and friend to many.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Linda, and his cherished daughters, Laura (Jeff) Bosaw and Janie (Troy) Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wanda and Lemuel Thompson, as well as his siblings, Cheryl Boehmer and Danny Thompson.
Russ was a proud and dedicated member of the Ironworkers Local 396. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, hunting, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. His unwavering love for his family and friends, and larger-than-life presence will be deeply missed.
Russ courageously battled Parkinson’s disease, complicated by Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy (PSP), a rare neurological condition. Despite the challenges, he faced each day with strength and determination, leaving a legacy of resilience and love.
The Thompson family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate team at St. Luke’s Hospital. A special thank you to Stephanie, Russ’ favorite physical therapist, the incredible nursing staff of 9600, and Drs. Mohammad Ahmed, Kristen Fisher, and Jill Oberle for their unwavering support and care for Russ and his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Russ’ memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Diamonds in the Ruff MO.
Russ will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor and remember Russ
