Sally Ann Ploof
Loving daughter, wonderful sister, loyal friend. Sally Ann Ploof, 64, of Dutzow, MO, died in Washington, MO, on Saturday September 28th.
She was born in Malone, NY, on December 12th, 1959, to Robert and Mildred (nee Stowe) Ploof. When Sally was very young, her parents moved to Missouri. It was there that she became the older sister of Saundra and Robert (Bob) Jr. There were many pranks, disagreements, inside jokes, and the occasional hospital visit, but most of all, love.
Sally studied nursing at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO before earning her nursing degree and entering the workforce in the health industry. For over 30 years, many spent working in the ICU, Sally’s passion for nursing took her to several hospitals. She used her exuberant personality and compassionate heart to care for many people. Sally simply manifested love.
Sally had a soft spot for her furry friends, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. Be it an orange cat she named Garfield (after one of her favorite cartoons), another cat named Odie (cartoon Garfield’s best friend), or any of her dogs she had throughout her life. Other animals were well liked as well, including chickens and goats.
Sally and her best friend, Emily, were practically inseparable throughout their lives. From taking a road trip to South Carolina to a jaunt around Europe, they were together through it all. She was also an active member of Life Stream Church in Washington, MO, devoting her time and energy to fostering healthy, spiritual relationships with God, as well as with friends and family.
Anyone who knew Sally knew how much she loved reading, watching various movies and tv shows, listening to music, and spending many hours putting together jigsaw puzzles with her mom. One of her favorite authors was Stephen King. Sally and her sister would share books and discuss them at length afterwards. She also enjoyed 70’s and 80’s music, with artists such as Journey and Ozzy Osbourne at the top of her favorites list.
Sally will always be remembered for her sense of humor and the way that she could get others into laughing fits, as well as her abundant generosity – she was at her happiest when she could provide enjoyment to others. We’ll always imagine hearing her say “love you guys/sis/bro” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better sister, and will miss Sally every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Sally was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and is survived by her mother, Mildred; siblings Saundra (Steve) Mackey and Bob (Beckie); nieces Heather (Matt) Evans and Brooke (Logan) Crow; extended close family Emily Keene, Aaron and Tracy Keene, Katelynn Stewart with Sawyer and Raena, Payton Elbert with Colton and Levi, Lucas Keene, and AJ Keene.
I love you and will forever miss you Aunt Sally.
Sally’s love for the Lord, desire to know Him more, grow in her understanding of the Word stand out. We will always value the times we spent together. 💕
I got to know Sally through church and a couple small groups we were part of. She lit up the room and made me feel like we had known each other for years. Come to find out, as a child I lived up the road from her on Birdie Hill Rd in St Peters. We also worked at the same hospital in Wentzville.
She had a faith in Jesus that was contagious. She truly cared for everyone and being a nurse was the perfect job for her to share her compassion.
She will be missed and I’m lucky I got to know her!!
Lord, please lift her soul and heal the hurt felt by her loved ones and friends. God Bless.
My Beloved Sister, My Rock, My Best Friend
You are walking beside me with your hand in mine. I am not alone.
You are the birds singing good morning, the soft breeze blowing through trees whispering your comforting words and the beautiful sunset wishing me goodnight.
You are forever in my memories and in my heart.
I love you Sis!!
“Though I know we must be parted
As sure as stars are in the sky
I’m gonna see when it comes to glory”
From hours spent making decorations and setting up the yard every holiday of every year, to creating a treasure map and (actually) buried treasure, to absolutely rocking out to some Ozzy, to baking anything and everything, to wrapping hundreds of gifts, to taking drives to town after school just for an icecream or a soda, Sally made mine and my siblings childhood full of fun and unique memories. We were so blessed to have you and love you and miss you dearly.
Everytime I see a hawk I think of you and how you could spot one on a telephone pole a mile away.
