Sally Wiese
Sarah “Sally” Louise Koester (nee Joedicke) was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She went to Our Lord on Monday, May 22, 2023 at age 88.
Sally was born to Louis Charles Joedicke and Sarah Ann Langdon (nee Sands) on February 10, 1935. After graduating from Visitation Academy, Sally attended Fontbonne University and received a degree in Social Sciences.
Sally met her husband Charles Thomas Koester-Lanphier in grade school when he got her attention by throwing a snowball. They were married on November 10, 1956 in the Saint Louis Cathedral. Their wedding date was also the 181st anniversary of the Marine Corps of which Charles was a member. In later years, Sally married Art Wiese.
The children of Charlie and Sally are Kathleen Anne (Ronald) Cain, Mary Christine (Kim Alan) Pullen and Mark Louis (Ana) Koester- Lanphier. There are presently 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren who loved to call Sally “Golden Grams” or “Mimi”.
While raising her children, Sally worked part time in the Spanish Lab at Cross Keys Junior High. Later, she began her career with Trans World Airlines and became a globetrotter- visiting Africa, Ireland, Italy, Germany and many other places where she had adventures such as riding elephants, climbing waterfalls, and breaking a leg (in Germany- not at the waterfall).
Sally loved spending time with her family and friends.
Her hobbies included theatre, knitting, scrapbooking, shuffleboard, badminton, Senior Olympics, volunteering for many causes and sharing her love of great books.
A private family mass for Sally will be held on May 30, 2023 at Saint Alban Roe church in Wildwood, Missouri.

While we didn’t ever meet in person, we were kindred spirits. I enjoyed chatting with Sally on several occasions. She was a wonderful woman with a great sense of humor and love for her family. I wish I could’ve met her in person, but at least I know I will see her in heaven and we will surely meet then.
Bill and I met Ms Sally on several occasions while she visited Mark and Ana in Florida … we just could not help falling deeply for her smile and incredibly positive energy. She was a true joy to be around, her love was felt instantly. Can’t help shedding tears for her, although I know she lived a happy full life surrounded by the love and dedication of her family.
We truly miss you.. thanks for being such an inspiration.
Ours deepest condolences to the Koester family! I had a special affection for Sally! Despide only having met her and shared with her on a couple of occasions, I was able to love her through her son Mark. We will miss you Sally! Rest in peace! 🙏 Moises and Zoraida Figueroa

Grandma, I’m so blessed to have been your first grandchild and have you in my life for 39 years! I’ll never forget the many NYE slumber parties at your house where we literally got to bang pots and pans on your porch, the unlimited Almond Rocha and tootsie roll candy, fighting Trouble for the Easter eggs in your huge backyard, and getting to watch you play badminton during the Senior Olympics. Your smile, kindness, love, and generosity for others was contagious. Thanks for being my Grandma and now my Angel. XOXO
My condolences to the koester family Sally was like a second mother to me I love her dearly. It was always a joy to be in her presence. I will always remember Ana’s 60th birthday party when we all got dressed up from the seventies we had A-blast. I know one day I will see her again in heaven. I love you mark. your brother Fernando.

I knew Sally for a very short time. I moved into the condo next to hers before she had her accident with her hip. I found her to be a very vivacious, caring, happy go lucky woman, much like the members of her family seem to be. I know she will be sorely missed by all of you. I missed her when she left here.
