Sam Clark Rundell

Sam Clark Rundell, 81, of St. Louis, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on December 21, 2023, following a brief illness. He was born October 2, 1942 to the late Maurice and Ruth (nee Clark) Rundell in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The family moved to Hurley, South Dakota, where Sam spent the bulk of his youth on the family farm alongside his father, until he left home to attend the University of Missouri, graduating with a Math and Physics degree. After graduation he moved to St. Louis, and began teaching at Mehlville Senior High School. He taught for several years before transitioning to a career as a Sales Engineer, beginning at Leeds & Northrup and culminating into a long career at Honeywell, retiring at age 60.

He was married for 55 years to the love of his life, Judith, who he first met at their apartment complex pool party. They married on February 3, 1968.

Sam is survived by his wife Judith, daughter Kristin (Jeff) Jacobsen, son Blake (Sandy) Rundell, grandchildren Jordan and Lindsay Rundell, Samantha, Jonathan and Casandra Jacobsen, and sister, Mary (Wayne) Demorest. He was a beloved  brother in law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Sam lived a life full of adventure enjoying traveling both in the US and to numerous international destinations. His intellect and curiosity fostered his love of reading and daily Jeopardy challenges, which he often won. He enjoyed a good game of golf with his friends, pheasant hunting in South Dakota and all the many gatherings with his family and friends. Sam was an active parishioner at Mary Mother of the Church serving on the Parish Council, as an usher and attending Adoration and Men’s Retreat weekends. He also volunteered his time and mentored many in his faith community. Sam always saw the good in others, was kind, funny and never met a stranger. He leaves a legacy of love, unmatched.
