Saundra Lee Templeton
Saundra Lee Templeton, age 71, died at home on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 surrounded by her family and special friends, one whom gave her a blessing. She was born on September 18, 1943 in Madison, Wisconsin to Norman J. and Bernice (Dren) Gade. Saundy graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1965 from the University of Dubuque, Iowa, with degrees in Christian Education and Sociology. She served as a Director of Christian Education in Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregations in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. She also served at Second Presbyterian in the Central West End of Saint Louis. Subsequently, she became the Associate for Stewardship Education for the denomination in Louisville, Kentucky. Later, she was the Executive Director of the Lee Institute at the Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church. In June of this year, Saundy reached the 20 year milestone of being successfully treated for ovarian cancer by David G. Mutch, MD of the Siteman Cancer Center. On December 31, 1966, she married Mark M. Templeton, Jr. who survives her. Together, they had two sons, Mark N. Templeton (Kathleen Dull) of Oak Park, Illinois and Bruce C. Templeton (Joanne Schoen) of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Also surviving her are a twin brother Gary J. (Judith) Gade of Windsor, Wisconsin, a sister, Mary A. Gade of Chicago, Illinois and two grandchildren, Paisley Elizabeth Templeton and Graham Norman Gade Templeton, both of Oak Park, Illinois. Saundy enjoyed traveling with her husband to garden and nature locations throughout the world, spending time with her family and grandchildren, and going multiple times to Walt Disney World. She was an avid sports fan and a shareowner in the Green Bay Packers football team. The Christmas season with family was her favorite time of the year. A committal service will be held at 2:15 p.m., August 27, at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m., August 28, at the Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church, 9450 Clayton Road, Ladue, Missouri 63124. The memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m., August 29, also at the Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church. While Saundy loved flowers, she would prefer that donations be made to SLOCA (Saint Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness), the American Heart Association, the ALS Association, the Missouri Botanical Garden or the Ladue Chapel Memorial Fund.
Deepest condolences to Mark, the children and grandchildren, and all the family. Saundy was unique in her kindness and generosity. She was a dear friend and neighbor to my mother. Elsie. Go in peace.
