Sheilah Macon

SHEILAH (def.): a UNIQUE, STRONG-WILLED, LOVING, KIND, and SELFLESS mother and teacher. Born January 15, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the first of six children born to Annie Lee Macon. She loved life and fought faithfully for it.

Sheilah received education through the St. Louis City Public School System. Then decided to further her education and received her BA and MBA from Webster University, both in St. Louis, MO. She delighted in her great business acumen and entrepreneur spirit that lead to owning her own businesses: a family-owned car wash with her sons, Avis Rent a Car, and several calendar stores and kiosks. She spoke highly of and enjoyed her years of employment at Ralston Purina.

WHAT SHE LOVED MOST: Her Sons, Grandchildren, Mother, Nieces and Nephews, Dancing and Traveling. She was the nucleus who kept all of us in touch with each other keeping the family connected. She touched many lives and no one was a stranger. To her, all became family.

She confessed faith in Christ at an early age. She was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church and attended services regularly until her health began to fail.

Sheilah was a friend from Purina. She was tough as nails and had just as great a sense of humor. She could laugh at herself, but did not suffer fools gladly. I learned a lot from her and loved having her as a friend. The world got a little colder and harsher w/o Sheilah.
