Sherril Franklin Glover (1937-2025)

Sherril Franklin Glover passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at NHC Memory Care in St. Peters, Missouri at age 88. He resided with his wife, Mary Jo Glover, in St. Peters, Missouri for the last 22 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Raymond and Leota Bernice Glover, and his older sister, Norma Joyce Peas. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Jo Glover (Nipper); his brothers, Donald Lee Glover and Paul Dean Glover, of Carmi, Illinois; his son David Raymond Glover and wife, Meg Glover of Ballwin, Missouri; his daughter, Laura Ellen Glover-Orr and husband, Timothy James Orr of St Louis, Missouri; his grandchildren, Katheryn Marie Ellenberg and husband, James Ryan Ellenberg of Labadie, Missouri; Benjamin David Glover of Arnold, Missouri, Joshua Harrison Glover of St Louis, Missouri, and Madelyn Violeta Orr of St Louis, Missouri; and great-grandson, James Tyson Ellenberg.

He was born in Grayville, Edwards County, Illinois on January 27, 1937. He graduated from the University of Illinois (C-U) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later completed the examination to become a professional licensed Engineer. He was employed by McDonnell Aircraft (later becoming McDonnell-Douglas, then Boeing). He was later employed by Sverdrup Corporation where he became an authority on solar energy usage. He worked on the Peace Shield Program, which was an underground defense center in Saudi Arabia, from 1984 to 1996. In 1985, he was awarded the Grand Conceptor Award for engineering excellence for his work on the Space Shuttle Launch Complex on Vandenberg Air Force Base. He was an active member of his church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, participated on the building committee, maintained the church vans, and helped with building repairs.

Our family finds comfort in knowing that Sherril’s legacy lives on in the love and joy he shared and in memories we will cherish forever. The family will plan a celebration of his life in May 2025.
