Sherry Gene Peterson

June 30, 1963 – September 23, 2026

Sherry Gene Peterson, 63, of Festus, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a family who loved her dearly and a lifetime of memories that will never be forgotten.

Anyone who knew Sherry knew she was truly the life of the party. She loved to laugh, have a good time, and be surrounded by family and friends. She was, without question, the fun aunt and the fun Nana, bringing energy and laughter wherever she went and creating memories that her family will cherish forever.

Above all, Sherry was a loving mother, proud Nana, beloved sister, devoted wife, and favorite aunt. Family was at the heart of her life, and the love she had for them could always be felt.

Sherry leaves behind her sons, Joshua Zohner and his wife, Heather; Jacob Peterson and his wife, Angel; and Jeremy Peterson and his fiancée, Brooke Drennen; her grandchildren, Brendyn Zohner, Peyton Zohner, Sebastian Peterson, Briella Drennen, Ava Peterson, and Jace Kirkpatrick; along with her extended family, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Sherry was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Peterson; her parents, Chester and Imogene Zohner; and her siblings, Michael Zohner, Lester Zohner, Charles Zohner, Helen “Susie” Stasiak, Shelby Vining, Freeland Zohner, and Sharron Jackson.

In keeping with Sherry’s personality and the way she lived her life, her family will honor her with a Celebration of Life. Family and friends will come together to share stories, laugh about the good times, and celebrate a woman who brought so much fun and laughter to those around her.

Anyone who knew Sherry knows she wouldn’t want everyone sitting around being sad. She’d want us together. She’d want us laughing. She’d want the stories being told. And she’d probably want everyone to raise a glass and have a good time in her honor.

Sherry will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter, stories, and memories she gave us will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sherry’s honor may be made to the American Kidney Fund.

Celebration of Life details will be announced by the family.
