Shirley J. Pottinger, Oct. 28, 1933 -March 14, 2019
Shirley passed away on March 14, 2019 at Bethesda Meadow. She is predeceased by her beloved parents: Martha L. (nee Schmidt) and Vincent D. Pottinger. She was the oldest of the Schmidt cousins and cared for us all. “Pottinger” was a nurse for 50 years, 25 of which she spent with Bethesda Dilworth on Big Bend. Shirley also worked with Dr. Mueller and Dr. Roth.
Shirley is survived by cousins to the 3rd generation, James (Rocky) Holt, friends and colleagues. She loved her family, her pets, quilting, opera, catalog shopping and her apartment. Shirley loved all animals and was a docent at the zoo watching over Raja in his first years. Shirley loved to go to garage sales, give gifts and help those around her. She had a sharp, inquisitive mind and dry wit. She actively engaged in the world around her.
A Memorial Celebration of her life will be held at Schrader Funeral Home, 108 N. Central Ave, Eureka, Mo. on June 28th, 2019 from 6 -9 pm. You are invited to share your photos and memories at the service on 6/28 or on the guestbook at St. Louis Post Dispatch legacy.com.
