Shirley Jean Shaw
Shirley Jean Shaw (nee Evett), age 81, of the St. Louis area passed to eternal life on Friday, October 2, 2026.
Shirley was born November 7, 1944 in St. Louis, MO and grew up in the Baden, Halls Ferry Circle neighborhood. She excelled at Mt Carmel Elementary School, Rosati-Kain High School, and Florissant Valley Community College. She was an excellent dancer and a regular at Club Imperial in north St Louis. She was a life long Cardinal and Blues fan and attended many games including a few World Series. She was so excited to finally touch the Stanley cup.
Shirley was a loving, strong, fun mother to daughter Kathryn Barker(Brian Rouse), who served as Shirley’s loving caretaker in her later years, and son Daniel Barker. Shirley was also a loving and supportive mother-in-law to Esnath Mugambiwa and proud grandmother to Zoey Barker and Eli Barker, whom she adored and enjoyed. Shirley was a dear pal to her sister Carole Steffen and fun sister-in-law to Carol Evett and Bill Steffen. Shirley was also an aunt, great aunt, Godmother, niece, cousin and friend to many, especially Theresa and the special employees of the Schnucks stores where she worked for 37 years.
Gone before her are her father Calvin Evett, mother Regina (Fischer) Evett, and brother Tom Evett whom we all miss. Now we will miss her as well.
A Celebration of Life open house will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 12 to 3 pm. Please join us at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 808 N Mason Rd., Creve Coeur, MO 63141.
